JDMDrft you are hard headed I told you that I had A 1995 Ford Probe with 1998 suburban V6 swap. Now in order to do this I had to get My uncle to transplant the entire drive train of the suburban to the Probe which means that my probe was rear wheel drive and had the power to really get up.I tighten the suspension up to keep the engine from coming in contact with the ground. then we we put titanium inserts in to the chasis to support the weight of the V6. I really wanted to drag the car at first but the drifting scene caught my eyes, so I just started drift in parking lots then one day I was driving to school and a school bus rear ended me at a stop light and my suburban/Probe was totalled.

Now I forgive you JDMDrft you were under the impression that my probe was stock and front wheel drive.Trust me I will never be a ricer mainly because here in Virginia Beach , Virginia there are too many ricers. on the 240sx forum th only reason I lashed out at 240sx owners was to get them to defend ther cars and give there opinions and facts on the car. Now the the crazy part is my father just baught my a 1991 Nissan 240sx with a KA24det motor in it thats the twin cam if you didnt know.ITs red with white rims tein super street suspension 7piont roll cage.the previous owner did this stuff to it I cant afford to modify it because my job sucks ass and my insurance money hasnt come in yet for my Probe. But you cant talk too much trash having a 1991 Bronco!!

That must have been some shit trying to fit a suburban drive train into your probe and converting it to rwd. wouldnt the rear end still be a little to big to fit under the probe? I'd like to hear more details about how you did that cause it sounds kinda wierd and I've never heard about such a function. Are you saying that owning a bronco makes me a ricer? thats fawked up. I admit I've never owned a japanese car in my life but I still know alot. Right now me and a friend are working on a 67 le manz with the 440 and triple deuce carburaters and I think that after we finish that project I'm gonna start looking for a Zenki 240 to build up with a KA-T

wait I'm not done...is it just me or are suburbans not 4wd? That adds another complication to your whole suburban-probe swap. Prove me wrong but I'm pretty sure that is impossible

This whole probe suburban thing is kinda odd, do you have any pic's? because if you did really do this then it sounds interesting.

The 1998 Suburban LS is RWD or at least the wrecked one I found was.
the probes engine bay is very small but the swap could be done, my uncle who helped me is a master at this stuff, he is actually in the navy and machines parts for the aircraft carriers so he was able to build new engine mounts and widen the front chasis by three inches. The titanium inserts he actually stole off base(maybe I shouldnt of said)any way we welded those in to the chasis to prevent it from breaking from the huge amounts of torque the new V6 has.We bought an after market tein super street suspension and put rubbers between the coils to make it really really stiff.the drive shaft had to be cut then we bought a new U-joint for the new angle it was in.we also put 12 inch brake rotors on but when we tried to put the stock rims back they wouldnt fit over the brakes so we bought 17inch rims and perelli rubber(I think thats how you spell perelli). the car stock was 2,766 lbs and after the mods it was
3,390 lbs but the performance increased a lot. the 1/4 mile went from
17.556 secs to 13.987 secs, those were the best times. Its driftablity was so so it was hard to start the drift but easy to hold it through out the turns. The car once modified had no a/c no heat and the battery and fuse box were moved to the back of the car moving the fuse box was the hardest part in the entire conversion.

was that a drunk post?

i really highly doubt this whole Suburban-Probe thing. post pics proving my doubts wrong, and then maybe...MAYBE...i'll believe you. but as it stands, it sounds kinda pointless and unlikely...but i've been wrong before.

btw...Tein doesn't make suspension for a Ford Probe...so how were you able to get parts for it?

oh, and your dad bought you a 240SX?

Re: American Drifters and their 240s

it sounds a little more convincing but I'm still wondering how you fit the rear end on the probe that wasn't even made to have one. Also, if you widened the front 3 in. how did you get the hood and bumper and other exterior parts back on. LOL, brian that was good about the shocks, thanks for that info.

While we're nitpicking, JDM, how's about showing me which Pontiac option you checked to get a Chrysler engine (440 is a Chryco wedge, man). In 1967, Le Mans came with 400ci Pontiac engines as the top option. It wasn't until 1970 that GM allowed engines above 400ci in the intermediate platform cars.

Hence, in 1970, Buick GS/Olds 442/Pontiac GTO all gained 455ci engines, while Chevelle received the 454.

The RWD Probe, though, is a pretty high level of bullshit in my book, though. I mean, I've seen Triumph Spitfire bodies placed on a K5 Blazer chassis (two wrongs don't make a right) and my grandpa used to have a T-bucket he built on an old Divco milk truck frame, but you're not going to convince me that something as hare-brained as a Ford Probe (a midsize FF coupe built on the Mazda 626 platform) with a Chevy Suburban (that's Chevy's full-size SUV, built on the C1500 series truck frame) driveline was your daily driver.

Sorry, but

never, ever. not in a million years.
you can't do it.
you'll twist the car to pieces. what did you do to get it in? how'd you mod the rear subframe?
what'd you do to brace the entire body of the vehicle.
did you know that suburbans only come with auto trannies? great for drifting... riiiiiiight.

i can't believe that anyone is even entertaining this idea. and of all things, it's not a car drivetrain, but a huge truck, that'd you'd have to narrow the axle for, and that you'd have to cut out most of the floorpan for.
BS.
consider, just for a thought, that you don't have to widen a focus to get a v8 in it, www.kugelkomponents.com. so why did you have to widen the probe?

you're 100% full of it. i guarantee it.
what'd you do to interface the gauges. did you use the stock suspension from the sub, or build your own?
no answers would mean you're a liar...

Re: American Drifters and their 240s

Trust me I had a lot of time on my hands last summer and as crazy as it sounds it was that hard to plan and assemble the only prolbem for daily driving is that I had no traction control any more. And Im not trying to convence any one that I did this I only brought it because a certain someone brought up the fact that probes cant drift and he is right they cant drift with or with out this conversion it was too much trouble to keep up with the repairs.
