Primer question

When you primer a car do you have to sand it down with a fine grit sandpaper and reprimer it or can you just spray paint it after you finish

Sanding the primer will help get a smoother finnish not necessary but you'll like the result in the end.

Re: Primer question

Two or three, depending on how thick you apply each coat.

2-3 coats of primer should be all you need.
I dont sand the primer as this makes dust which is not good for your paint.
If you get your primer nice and smooth there should be no reason to have to sand

that's right p-man, you know, with all the bad luck I've been having with paints, I just should keep all my cars in primer, specially because that big $2 can of dollar store primer lasts forever, goes on smooth as silk, and is rust resistant.
