2002 tahoe suspension click ?

i have a 2002 tahoe ls that has an intermittent clicking noise in the suspension that is driving me crazy. it makes this sound at times when going over bumps but mostly when the body rolls such as in turns or winding roads. it is a slight noise and i have had it to the dealer several times with no help. i usually get the famous "could not duplicate concern" on my invoice. any help would be really appreciated.
i thought about putting new shocks in but i dont want to waste money
thanks

If your truck is under warranty take it back...get the service advisor or the service manager to ride with you and show them the noise and when it occurs.
If they hear it, it will get fixed!

thanks merlin, i did that and they put a lob of grease around the left front shock rubber grommet. this did not do a thing and the second time they told me it was the intermediate steering shaft. this also did nothing for my problem. finally the third time they told me they didnt hear anything after keeping my truck all day. if i can have it fixed i am willing to pay to have it done right. i have read several possible causes from different boards and the possible causes range from bushings to torsion bars. i am not a mechanic at all and am just looking for some advice from professionals.

thanks
dave

had truck in to a different dealer today and they told me the left upper control arm was loose, so they tightened it. this did not solve the suspension clicking noise.
there was another guy at the dealer with a 2003 tahoe that has the same exact problem as mine. i have read a lot of people have this same problem and im just looking for a fix to it. does anyone know if new shocks could possibly fix this noise. maybe eldelbrock, rancho, or bilstein ?

Re: 2002 tahoe suspension click ?

I had some time to look in my service information...take your truck back and tell the dealer to reference tech bulletin 03-03-08-002
It is in reference to front end noise caused by a shock insulator,
this may fix it.

thanks merlin, i gave that number to my dealer today and he ordered the parts. i have to bring the truck in on the 30th to have it done. i hope this solves my problem. what exactly are the parts involved in this bulletin ? thank you very much for your advice.
also would you reccomend a shock change, maybe edelbrock or bilstein ?
i have read a lot of good things about both

R+R shocks and replace insulator with new designed part.
I wouldn't mess with replacing the shocks til you need to.

Re: 2002 tahoe suspension click ?

R+R...Remove and reinstall
I don't know the difference in the insulator...I don't do that much front end work...mostly driveabilty, elecrical and ABS brakes

I don't know how bad/loud the clicking noise is, but the brake pads make a clicking noise when going over bumps. This is caused by the pad moving around in its seat. Sounds silly, but it is a common symptom. Try driving it around on bumpy roads and applying the brakes slightly while the noise is happening. If it goes away when you do this, chances are that's your "problem". No fix. You'll have to grin and bear it.

well i still have the same click and also creaking noises in front suspension. it seems to get worse in the cold and is more noticeable. to me it really sounds like something is seriusly wrong. i would like to know if anyone has any ideas of what this can be besides what was already suggested.

thanks
dave

I had a clicking noise also and I tightened the lower "A" arm bolts also tighten the lower bolt on the shock. No more noise for me.
