1996 2-DR Tahoe suspension advice...
1996 2-DR Tahoe suspension advice...
After 105K miles, I'm still sitting on my stock (Z71) suspension package on my 1996 Tahoe (2DR, 4WD)... Can someone out there recommend a good replacement for what I have? The ride has gotten rather rough and rocks quite a bit over speed-bumps now... Likewise, potholes are pretty noisy, etc... Any suggestions? Price? Cost for the whole job to be done? Thanks in advance, David [email protected] |

I just put a set of 4 rancho rs 9000 shocks on my 1999 tahoe. It rode like a bucket full of water but now it rides like a dream. The best thing about these shocks is that they are fully adjustable from a soft ride to rock solid. I got a good deal on the shocks, buy 3 get one free, from the local 4x4 parts store. it cost me about 275 for the shocks and my buddy charged me 200 to put all 4 of them in, which is pretty cheap. A 4x4 store will be a lot more expensive but I don't know how much because I don't like to be insulted. I hope this helps.

What type of noise are you hearing? You may have some bad parts(other than just shocks) especially since you have 105k. The ranchos are going to be a firm ride if you want something not quite as rough and an excelent shock I would recommend the monroe reflex.
