How can i make my Cav louder?

My cousin said that there is something that you can take off somewhere on the car to make it sound louder or something? Is this true? What do i take off? And how the heck do i do it?

You take the resonator out of the muffler. However, I would suggest against this as you are really not going to gain significant hp and the most you'll get is ridiculed because that is the ricey way out of buying an exhaust and doing it right.

Well what you can do is cut off your Catalytic Converter and put a High flow one. Also boost up your Exhaust pipe size. Then put a High flow Muffler on the end and your in business. But that all takes a lot of money. So what I did was cut off my Catalytic converter and then put a High flow one. Thats it and my car rocks now.. I love the sound.. ;-)

The only thing about just having a high flow cat is if you have a 4-banger like me than it sounds like shit!!!!!!! trust me i tryed

but a 3.1 cav like mine sounds great.

put a obx bomber muffler on it replacing the stock muffler. its very loud. i got a 90' cav z24 3.1 and ad a spark plug kit to it and you get this effect :flamer:

Just get rid of the cat, or the muffler, or both. you could also drive around and find a place that sells leaded gas. that will eat out the cat. that is how they use to do it.

at least get a good muffler and poke some holes in your exhaust pipe
or, atach your new muffler directly to your catalytic converter/header (i havent tried this yet so i dont know if it works)

KNOW WHAT I DID?..........drove over a big speedbump and knocked my muffler off, i havent had exhaust for over a month lol.........might i add this thing sets off car alarm's AND it has a throaty sound like a v8 eingine...........plus when you rev high and let it drop, you get that nice throaty clunky clunk sound , it's fucken awesome

Heheh, not sure what ltr my Cav is, but I believe its a 2 ltr. I added a Cherry Bomb muffler, and god damn it sounds awsome, thinking of getting a high flow cat for it.

A catalytic converter is a device used to reduce the toxicity of emissions from an internal combustion engine. It provides an environment for a chemical reaction wherein toxic combustion by-products are converted to less-toxic gases.

And to remove it, cut it from the exhaust pipe on each side of the converter unless it is bolted on.
