How can i make my car louder?

Well i have a 97 Lumina and i was wondering if theres any caps or somethin on the engine that, if i remove it, it will make the car a little louder?

the car is so silent when i turn it on i never know if its on or not, so is there anything i can take off the engine or somethin to make it a bit louder? i think my friend did it to his eclipse

you cant tell its running? hmmmm, are you looking for more horses or just a louder car. I know if you put a K&N cone filter on it, it will open up the intake, and you'll hear all the air rushing in, (may not sound like it does much, but it actually does, and also icreases the horsepower) Otherwise buy a performance muffler, that will give it a little more sound.

well i can hear that its on, but sometimes if someones talking i dunno if i turned it on or not lol

anyways, i just want it louder (i dont wanna spend money) but ya more hp would be cool

how big are the performance mufflers for luminas?

try autozone.com or something just to get price ideas. Um, I know if you open up the intake, you can really hear the air being sucked in, I know jeffco drilled some holes in his intake filter box, and he says it really barkes from the front, so if you want some more ideas on that, look for the forum labled "tornado". That should help you out.

Hey! You're on ocforums too right? Anyway, if you remove the muffler and run a straight pipe from the cat to the back of the car it will be louder. I *think* that's legal too. The pipe that runs from the cat to the muffler blew our on my neighbor's Lumina APV. That thing sounds MEAN now

wtf i was at big-boys.com watchin some videos and my computer restarted (like normal) but it wouldnt boot, tried the hard drives, nothing, took out the video card, it sorta boot then would beep since theres no card, then i put a pci card, boots up WTF

it suks cuz im poor, no money, no job

Coming back from the engine you have the Exhuast manifold which runs to the cat, then the cat runs to your muffler. If you remove the cat, the car will sound MUCH louder and probably feel more powerful as well, however, it is ILLEGAL to do so since it's emissions equipment. The next thing you can remove is the muffler. Since the cat already acts as a muffler, you'll probably be under the legal noise limit. That's why I said it's probably legal to remove the muffler and instead run a pipe from the cat all the way to the back of the car (deletes muffler).

The straight pipe wasn't meant in a literal sense.

nah its 100% air, my cards been giving trouble for like 3 months or so, but ya i thought it was a hard drive

so basically rip off the muffler and crap, then just run any old pipe (which would lead the exhaust to the back?)

smart... lol, i too have done that before. i dont know about it being louder. but my lums exhaust sounds real nice around 2.1 grand on the tach. just dont jet off. you could also buy some Magnaflows for the car. or try a Glasspack make that thing sound like an old chevy hotrod!

Glasspacks would be sweet. I might buy a pair of them for my car, but my car already sounds pretty good when I floor it.
