427 Cobra, New Pics!

This is the last thread I start today, I promise! Anyway, I`ve been wanting to get better pictures of the Cobra for a long time. I built this one about 10 years ago, and was entered in the first contest I ever participated in (took first place ). There is no clear coat on it. The velocity stacks were scratchbuilt from aluminum tubing and small wires painted silver. Plug wires and brake lines were added. I built the coil springs from wire, and the throttle springs and linkages from strands of wire. The carpet was yellow grass ( found in the trains section of the hobby store ) glued to the floor and painted with aluminum metallizer. Let me know what you think.

Hey, man , how can somebody be mad at you for posting such beauties!

Your cars are as tasty as a big, fat, juicy , salty, greasy, steamy, non-healthy, fat-making and oh-so-desirable giant Hamburger! (I might be a little hungry..)

Oh, and with all this sucking up, I have to ask you two things.
1: who makes that car ? monogram?
2: What technique-paint did you use on the dooden rim of the steering wheel to make it look so .... real..

Ha! I just got finished lunch before reading that, and it sounds like you were describing what I had.

It`s actually an AMT kit, a very old one. I don`t think it`s been available for quite a while now. Tpyical for AMT, the wheels and tires are way out of proportion IMO.

It`s hard to remember, but at the time, I know I was experimenting with using different shades of brown and a very very small brush. I would lay down a coat of light brown, and then add "streaks" of different color browns til it looked right.
