Re: 1996 ford taurus radio

The RF for the antenna connects directly to the Rear Control Unit (RCU). Maybe you disconnected this by accident when you were disconnecting the CD changer from the RCU.

Re: 1996 ford taurus radio

no problem I got it fixed like I said and it came up with another problem the drivers side caliper is rubbing the rim i have the stock alloy rims idk if this is part of the problem but we havent had a day under 90 degrees is the excessive heat causing the metal to expand or something the caliper and everything is still tight is this a common problem?

Re: 1996 ford taurus radio

You have the stock wheels and the caliper is rubbing on them? Yeah, that would be a problem. The heat wave we're having would not cause this, something else is not right. I haven't not heard/read of anyone else having this problem with stock brakes and wheels.

The first thing I'd check is to make sure the lugnuts are properly torqued and there isn't something between the wheel and hub/rotor causing one of them to have excessive runout.

Re: 1996 ford taurus radio

I pulled the wheel off and the calipers bolts are tourqed to spec along with the lugnuts when i picked up the car I can move it side to side very little is that cuz of a bad cv joint or something in that region

Re: 1996 ford taurus radio

I'm not clear what you are able to move side to side, the hub, the wheel when torqued to the hub, or the caliper? The only one that I would expect you could move slightly would be the caliper. If there is play in the hub or wheel when installed, that would be due to either a wheel bearing issue or a loose steering/suspension part.

Re: 1996 ford taurus radio

Okay, you have a loose steering or suspension component. If it's so loose that it allows the wheel to contact the brake caliper, the car may not be safe to continue driving. You really need to get it fixed ASAP.
