Died

Hello,

Yesterday I started up my 2000 Grand Prix and drove home. I went inside real quick to grab something but when I came out and tried to start the car absolutely nothing happened. There was no electrical response at all. The battery showed no sign of being weak and I tightened the battery cables just to be sure there was no disconnection. I didn't have time to try to figure out what was wrong yesterday but it's still dead this morning. What other than the battery can cause a total shutdown like this?

Re: Died

The battery is a good starting point. If you have an Autozone nearby get it tested for free. Also, you can measure the voltage with a multimeter. Just go across the battery positive and negative terminals. Normally you should see around 12.5 volts on a properly charged or good battery. This is with ignition to OFF.

Re: Died

Thanks. I plan to get the battery tested/charged later today once I can get a ride. But just in case it's not the battery, what else could it be? Because I hope it's something as simple as the battery, but with the bad luck I've been having this week I have a feeling it's not.

Re: Died

Other than the battery cables and terminals possibly the alternator. But AZ will test the whole charging system too.
