I would be glad to help you, like most of the members here.

But as many people only speak English as a second or third language, it's easier for them to read SENTENCES. Not a whole bunch of words written one after the other without making much sence.:alien2:

I m just saying this in general, because many people tend not to think about it.

My little piece of advice.

Yep. Some of you youngin's on this forum need a lesson in netiquette. It's like your mind is rushing when you post. Just SLOW DOWN and separate your thoughts.

That's it.

I've been wanting to rant, and I'm using this to my advantage. Before around October 2002, AF model car forums were a really great place. Now it seems like a daycare with a bunch of kiddies running around asking obvious questions and the like. I can't stand browsing these forums and having 75% of them composed of garbled english. I take into fact that there are many non-US members of this forum, but even they take the time to write coherent sentences; and most of them are very good modelers that only post when absolutely necessary. I'm gonna flame at the risk of being banned, but I feel it's worth it.

All you damn kids that are between the ages of 9-15 need to learn a thing or two about netiquette. I'm also quite tired of only hearing about "HEY WHO MAKES THAT KIT? WHAT COLOR IS IT? WHAT ARE THOSE RIMS? HOW DID YOU MAKE THAT FARTCAN EXHAUST" when most times all the needed information is in the TITLE OF THE POST or in the TEXT OF THE POST. It's like all you guys have minds going 200mph from watching too much Fast and Furious. Slow the FUCK DOWN and start thinking before you post. Maybe it's a generational dysfunction, but when I first joined this forum (or any forum) I spend at least a month lurking around and understanding the flow of traffic. Some forums are total chaos, others are safe communities. AF used to be a serious modeling forum where I could go to understand the intricacies of modeling; now it's just a newbie pile that isn't gaining any experience. I'd hate to leave these forums because there are some very good modelers here that have great work, but as day passes by I'm being pushed more and more by the stupidity level. I even tried to reach out to one of you guys through PM, but you just ended up talking to me on AIM calling me a "faggot". HELLO IMMATURITY.

Just in case netnanny blocks your precious eyes from other websites, I made an excerpt from the above link.

---------------------
I don't want to give the impression that the net is a cold, cruel place full of people who just can't wait to insult each other. As in the world at large, most people who communicate online just want to be liked. Networks -- particularly discussion groups -- let you reach out to people you'd otherwise never meet. And none of them can see you. You won't be judged by the color of your skin, eyes, or hair, your weight, your age, or your clothing.

You will, however, be judged by the quality of your writing. For most people who choose to communicate online, this is an advantage; if they didn't enjoy using the written word, they wouldn't be there. So spelling and grammar do count.

If you're spending a lot of time on the net and you're shaky in these areas, it's worth brushing up on them. There are plenty of books available, but you'll learn more -- and possibly have more fun -- if you take a course. If you're an older adult , you don't have to take a "bonehead grammar" course with a bunch of bored teenagers. Instead, look for courses on proofreading and copyediting; they usually cover the basic rules of grammar pretty thoroughly, and they'll be filled with motivated students who are there because they want to be. Check your local community college and university extension catalogs -- you'll be amazed at what they offer. A side benefit is that taking courses involves meeting people you can actually see.

Know what you're talking about and make sense

Pay attention to the content of your writing. Be sure you know what you're talking about -- when you see yourself writing "it's my understanding that" or "I believe it's the case," ask yourself whether you really want to post this note before checking your facts. Bad information propagates like wildfire on the net. And once it's been through two or three iterations, you get the same distortion effect as in the party game "Operator": Whatever you originally said may be unrecognizable. (Of course, you could take this as a reason not to worry about the accuracy of your postings. But you're only responsible for what you post yourself, not for what anyone else does with it.)

In addition, make sure your notes are clear and logical. It's perfectly possible to write a paragraph that contains no errors in grammar or spelling, but still makes no sense whatsoever. This is most likely to happen when you're trying to impress someone by using a lot of long words that you don't really understand yourself. Trust me -- no one worth impressing will be impressed. It's better to keep it simple.

ditto English is my second language.. but at least, I try to make good sentance as clear as I can....

Edit: and the worst thing, is 98% of the bad post with stupid santances and bad writing are made by English peoples..

I've found, patience will solve 95% of modeling mistakes. Just be patient, doublecheck your work before the next step, and you will avoid simple and obvious mistakes.

Aye, well spoken!
I just wanna add a suggestion.
Some problems TheSyndicate has already brought up and has highlights certain things.
Perhaps AF can re-organise or seperate certain topics in different forums.

Say for example:
If you have problems and need help:
AF/ AArt/ CarModeling/Problems(Post your problems here)

CarModeling, specifically this forum should be only use for posting of projects and other car modeling related building kits like motobikes...etc

As this forum moves too fast, it sometimes takes me alot of time just to read each and every post/thread to keep myself update. And while going tru, some of the threads can be really useless but becos they are there, we need to go tru it too.
Yes there are search engines here to use but it doesnt help you nor tell or inform you of everything.

By narrowing the threads or limiting them, this forum will be much more 'friendlier' in terms of reading that is.

I am just suggesting although not very specifically but I hope you get the idea of it or somewhere along the lines.

As to what TheSyndicate has mentioned, I do agree with him.

My 2cts, Singapore cents that is

Pinky, I am sure TheSyndicate meant to help people like you and others out.
But if you look at his post positively, it does make sense for you to put punctuations in your sentence.

Sooner or later, even if TheSyndicate wasnt the one, you can bet, others will give U a good 'lecture' too.

It helps you Pinky and it helps the people here to read and understand you better thats all.

Help yourself to help others understand you. It gotta work both ways.

I would have loved to be here in the past, if it was a nice place to be. I think that it is nice today. Of course I can't relate to any people, and the people that I meet now isn't the people that used to be here before. But I think it's a nice forum. Haven't noticed so many childish attitudes, but then again I don't browse this forum that much. I hope I'm not being placed in the booth of the "regular newcomer". I try to write good english, and I try to behave.

And just to add some vital information. It really is necessary with sentence separation.

so, you want to be accepted by people here, and not offend or bother people?

grammar.

proper english. punctuation.
try em, you'll like em.

i answer tech questions via email all day here at work, and there's nothing worse than an email that comes in with no punctuation. i think it's pretty rude myself.
if you can't take the time to type something that is understandable, why should i have to read it?

and guess what... i do answer them. with as much punctuation and perfect grammar as possible.

which is what everyone else here does.

so why can't you do it?

yeah, read it again.

if you slow down, and read, instead of skimming and looking at pictures, you'll find your answers.

this is true to anyone. there are many times that i've done the same, and asked the question, only to realize that the answer is there right in front of me.

Fuck it. I give up, I don't understand a single fucking thing you said. Go back to school, kid.

Also, I did not fall back to a pre-kindergarten intelligence level when I joined AF. You have no valid excuse in saying just because you're a newbie to this forum, that you can disregard the standards of a message board.
