Re: Which battery stock Lumina LTZ
Group 78A, 6YR, 1000CA.
Johnson Controls makes good batteries, and they are marketed under various names such as "Energizer", "Die-Hard", and "Optima.". Unfortunately, they also manufacture lower quality batteries sold under discount names such as "Everstart" and "Kirkland" for discount stores. They often contain fewer and lighter plates and tend to be less forgiving. With any brand (and even with the "discount" brand names), you will increase your chance of getting a more robust battery if you get one with the highest available CCA and reserve A/H ratings. I just replaced a Johnson Controls "3-year" 800CA battery in the '95 LeSabre. It was installed in February of 2000. I've never had one last that long before, but have had them last 7 years routinely.
