98 lumina ltz stalls which slowing down

My 1998 Lumina LTZ has recently begun to stall at slowing down speeds or when coming to a stop. It quits like the key is turned off, but the control panel lights and driving lights still operate. It starts right back up without a hesitation. It doesn't happen when driving at regular speeds, only when slowing down or stopping. The check engine soon light has been coming on and off for about 6 months, but the engine has run fine until the last 3 weeks. We've checked battery terminals, cleaned the MAF, thumped the fuel tank when it stops, checked the gas camp, etc. Can anyone give me an idea what is wrong and what might fix the problem?

Re: 98 lumina ltz stalls which slowing down

The code for the check engine light at Checker Auto was po102 mas or volume airflow circuit low imput. It doesn't seem to be running in open loop. We don't think this code has anything to do with the car stalling.
When the car stalls, I've check the fuel pressure by pushing the shraider valve and there is very little fuel pressure. However, when I turn the key off and then on again I can hear fuel pump come on and the car starts right up. It happened twice this morning, once about a block away from my house and 20 minutes later when the car had been driven 15 miles, while stopping at a stop light. It never stalls when I'm driving a steady speed on the highway.

try unplugging the MAF sensor and see if it still stalls. It could be a sticking TCC solenoid also, not unlocking the torque converter when you slow down, but those will usually trip a code.
