Angry Too Much Oil? 92 Park Ave.

My dad is an idiot, I asked an earlier question about how much oil goes into the engine and the guy replied 1/3 of a quart into the filter and 4+ quarts into the crank case , my dad poured the entire 5+ quart bottle into the engine, I have not ran the engine yet because it got dark. The 5+ quart equals 5.28 quarts. Do I need to drain some of the oil or will i be fine?

Go easy on dad, he was only trying to help!
This small amount of additional oil in the crankcase will not hurt anything and there is no need to drain any out at this point! The 1992 Owners Manual recommends 4-1/2 qts with filter change, but I prefer using the dipstick for a final measurement.
Actually, the instructions went like this:

Wait for another 2-min & check the oil level with the dipstick and add oil if required to bring it to the full mark.

Re: To Much Oil? 92 Park Ave.

Generally the 88-95 Series I is a 5 quart engine... Say you bought a 5qt bottle and used the whole bottle.... You'd be fine doing that... I have always done this with all of my series I 3800's... The newer series II and III are a bit closer to 4.5 qts, But I have run 5 qts in my series II's as well.. Just for reference you can be a bit above the full mark without any issues... Mine are usually 1/4" above full..

I agree with HotZ28, don't give dad a hard time.... One day he may not be there to help you... Trust me on that....

zzzzzz's right on just that much oil over fill. it's better to run it under full but again that much over wont hurt it. keep checking for valve cover's leakage.

Agreed on the 5 quarts. I've noticed when I run 5 quarts, my oil pressure increases a little bit. With over 200K and hardly any oil loss between changes, I am convinced 5 quarts is actually better.

These guys are right, give Dad a break, you'll learn a bunch from him over time.
