I'd take an Icon TT setup for my SS in a heartbeat, too bad they aren't being manufactured anymore...

11:1 comp ratio, no, 10:1 maybe. You could use thicker head gasgets, and if you have cash get the combustion chamnbers on the heads milled for lower CR.

Turbo kits for LS1's haven't really been perfected yet, at least i don't believe they have. The supercharger kits are a more popular choice. I think most of the kits are 6psi kits, which should be find with a stock bottom end, some are 9psi kits, which i guess is ok, but if you want your engine to last longer i'd stick to 6psi with stock internals.

Thicker head gaskets wont lower you CR enough to make a difference. The only way to do it is to get dished pistons or different heads with a larger combustion chamber.

Superchargers and 'Blowers' are the samething.

Just thought i'd point it out... figured somebody had too

If your fuel system is up to par you can run 9 - 11 lbs perfectly fine with no problems. Stock pistons are actually HARDER than aftermarket performance pistons. That's their downfall actually. They're so hard that they are also BRITTLE. Which means if there is ANY detonation at all you will have PROBLEMS. But as long as you have absolutely NO detonation once so ever you'll be good to go! This is why there are people running 250 shots of nitrous on stock internals. All you really have to worry about is your crank. BUT for what you'll pay for a fuel/management system capable of doing the above safely, you could buy a supercharger/heads/cam/forged internals. The only reason I know of people doing this is to say they run a 250 shot on nitrous, lol. But anyways, just wanted to point out it IS possible...
And also, a blower and supercharger is the same thing, but generally when you say blower you're referring to a roots charger, and supercharger is used to refer to a centrifugal charger. Not my lingo, but THE lingo none-the-less...

Of course you can go 9-12psi if your fuel system can handle it, but why not just lower your compression a bit as well as a forged crank and all. Also, i dunno about you, but i don't wanna have to worry about that 1 time you detonate and your engine is done for.

Oh yes, I agree with you wholeheartedly. Just thought I'd point out that it can be done. POINTLESS in my mind...EXCEPT if you just want to be able to brag that you run 12 lbs on stock internals, or a 250 shot on stock internals.

Re: Blower-Supercharge-Turbo

well im pretty sure you would be ok with a blower/supercharger or turbo.... i have a 76' maro with a 350. i have a 142 cid. weiand blower/supercharger. im running 5.45 lbs. of boost. i DONT have forged internals and its perfectly fine. i used the stock heads. but later upgraded to a set of aluminum heads. as long as you can run pump gas in your car now without any knocking or pinging then you should be good... i usually run 91 octane (gay ass california) with lucas octane booster. its totally fine. but u might want to up grade your distributor to a mechanical advance with an adjustible timing curve (MSD pro billit distributor) and you might want to get stage 2 cold spark plugs (to prevent pre detonation). if you have any questions regarding an installation on a blower then let me know and ill be more than happy to help you out and talk you through it. i pretty much ran into every problem you can with installing one. so i know how to fix almost everything.

Wow... How about next time you read the last posted date before replying to a thread. This thread is almost 5 years old... We don't need to be bringing back threads from the dead...
