Re: 2002 tahoe suspension click ?

overton7 - I have a 2002 LT 4x4 and had your exact problem. Since I live in Dallas I took it to dealer after dealer and they too gave me the ole standard "its nothing" , "we fixed it" (when I still heard it. Hence, I took it to my small town dealer and they knew what it was immediately. All they did was to lube the drivers shaft all over very well. About 6 months later I heard the noise again and they lubed it and have not heard a noise since. Sounds like you might have had this checked, go again to a smaller dealer and ONLY deal with the HEAD MASTER MECHANIC.

Overton7....My problem was identical to what you have described. I had my Tahoe fixed. The last tally was about $4000.00 worth of warranty work because the Front Differential Bearings had Spun, causing the clutches in the transfer case to burn up as well. I am looking into Lemon Laws here where I live. Now today..I am getting as strange vibrating shift in gears when you first take off slow...who knows what I am in for next!?

Re: 2002 tahoe suspension click ?

I had both of the infamaous "clicking" problems. Both now fixed, under warranty.

1. Steering Intermediate Shaft: Dealer basically disassembles the shaft, packs it with lithium and reassembles per TSB;

2. Front End Popping: Dealer elongates frame rail (beleive it or not) per TSB.

These, and many more, problems are common to the new gen Tahoe's and are addressed by GM Technical Service Bulletins. A reputable Chevy dealer will be very familiar with them. If not, find another dealer quick before your warranty expires.

And you sould definitely visit http://www.recalls.gov/nhtsa.html

They now include many of GM's Technical Service Bulletins. Many with the actual GM TSB scanned and attached to the link with specific instructions on the fix.

Re: 2002 tahoe suspension click ?

I get "clicking" noises on my 03, but only when I have the front wheels turned all the way to either right or left... I was told that this is normal, due to the steering geometry...

Re: Re: 2002 tahoe suspension click ?

This is exactly what my 03 Tahoe did. Particularly when backing out with the wheels turned hard or coming off the line turned hard.

I'm looking at my copy of the warranty repair ticket right now. I can confirm that it is a known problem and was repaired under warranty at Robbins Chevrolet in Humble, Tx. To quote: "CORRECTION: ELONGATE FRAME RAIL PER BULLETIN."

Take yours to another dealer. Yours is brushing you off.

don't know if you're still on here, or even still have the truck.... my 01 was clicking like that and I had to replace the rotors & pads at 40,900 mile... GM is aware of the problem.... it did take care of the [email protected]

suspension click

I have a 2004 yukon with the same front end clicking noise during hard turns/ u-turns. The dealer replaced the intermediate shaft but this didn't help. I was told by the dealer mechanic that the noise is from the bushings (small splines in them that are designed to keep the ride firm are just shifting--almost like a rachet tool) and this is normal. Maybe there are after market bushings that eliminate this annoying click noise.
