Plug removal issue

I have a 97 4cyl that was leaking oil into the plugs.I got the gaskets getting ready to do the job but I cant get the plugs out.I have a 5/8 socket that I used on at least 4 or Japanese cars to change plugs but It doesnt seem to fit right on my Galant.I just cant get the socket to reach the plug it looks like its too wide.Has anyone had this issue.Theres not much room where the plugs are

Re: Plug removal issue

Your going to need a thin wall socket. Plain and simple. You can get a long spark plug socket at your local auto parts store. Just let them know what your looking for.
