04 Silverado Power Plug Removal

How do I remove my left power plug ( cigarette lighter from factory ) so I can install a rubber fill plug like is on the right power plug.

2004 Chevrolet Silverado Extended Cab with bucket seats and a center console.

Thanks

I can't help you there, but I too thought about doing the same on my '04. I thought it would look better.

it's threaded together. if you remove the wires, stick your thumb in the socket and twist the back piece it should come out easily.

Re: 04 Silverado Power Plug Removal

My problem is getting access to the power plug. I have pulled out the cup holder and can not get to it that way and have not figured out if I can remove the radio and get to it that way yet.

The molded plastic component that has the 2 cubbies in it and the 2 plug outlets will pop straight out. Just put your fingers into one cubby and your thumb in the other and pull straight out until the 4 corner clips pop out.

Be careful not to yank too hard as the outlet wires will be strained.
