Question What to buy?

Ok. When I go to buy a Turbo Kit for a stock LS what else am I going to have to buy? (fuel regulator, so on?) (also, to make it run reliable and smooth for a daily driver??)

The best advice I can give you is buy a complete kit from a company like Greddy, Drag, Apexi and so on. And it will come with everything you need and leave it like it says to, don't go and turn up the boost until you learn enough to know what to do with it to make more power.

You might also want to consider a turbo timer, this lets the car run for a set amout of time to cool the turbo. It will prolong the life of the turbo, or you could always just sit in the car for about 30 secs to 1 min then shut it off.

I recommend looking into Garrett turbos.. if you look on their website, there should be details about which turbos fit which engines/vehicles, and if you have trouble with that.. try doing a search on like www.msn.com type in Garrett turbo "your vehicle" manual or something similar, keep trying until you find what you are looking for..

i know you have to change the oil pump after the swap

there are all kinds of tips, detailed instructions, and opinions on what you should do... this is where research becomes valuable and also part of customizing comes into play.. if this is too much for you too handle, as in: too much time if you are too busy with other things; or you just want it now and dont wanna wait.. talk to a shop, one that specializes in performance and imports since you drive a teg

some of the questions you are asking aren't really ones we can give you detailed answers to... and if you are serious about this, you will have enough motivation to research it because you will want your car to out perform your friends

here are some links to help you out...

posted some bad links, sorry
here is a good link

umm...

well now i'm confused, my friend was going to look at GSR's but i'm guessing it would be more worth it to buy an LS and do that LS/VTEC thing? why though, i'm so confused... and i mean $200? that's good because the LS is cheaper... anyway i don't know what i'm talking about so please explain... (i'm lost in the world of Honda Acura, i'm more into nissans and VW's and what not)

Ok listen here. DONT SWAP? Why u wanna swap? Ls motors are good enough to beat anything out there if done right. Just a turbo kit and upgraded fuel will get you into high 12s or low 13s with 12 psi! I'd definatley stick with the ls motor. NO v-tec is neccessary. This is a perfect motor since its already low compression. ALso upgraded suspension plays a big part in this also. It doesn't really take much to beat a type r. I beat one with my crx with stock b16...well just an intake...big whoa.

Thats a tad optimistic, I'd say mid-high 13's. Maybe low 13's with slicks. But I do agree no VTEC is necessary and 12 PSI is the magic number for an LS. I would stick with the LS motor too. My mom has a 2000 LS, I trying to get her to put a turbo kit on it-LMAO
