what will it take for a 5th gen EX to beat a 96 civic EX w/ intake

ok, I have just spent close to a year driving a ford mustang and have decided that I will for sure go honda on my next car. I know I will get a 4 door unless I find a great deal on a 2 door. the civic my friend has is a 2 dr EX with nothing to the engine but intake. and he is always bragging. he thyinks his car does a 6.5 0-60, anyways, I would like to be able to win a race with him, and I am a better driver completely, he had like 5 months to practice wiuth his car and the first time I got in I was already shifting faster and could launch much better. he thinks just rev it and drop it, he spins them every time!

I am going to get

-AEM CAI
-neuspeed N2 header
-exhaust (I know a guy who ownsa muffler shop so I get install free and parts at cost, so i might go for dual 2 inch with no cats to a couple mufflers but not sure what kind yet)
-underdrive pulleys

Is this enough to let my accord win. also, If i can find an LX for alot cheaper, I will have lost 15 HP over the EX but is this still enough to get a LX to beat a EX cvic, also what is the smallest shot you can get of nitrous. I have only heard of 50 or more can you get like a 35 shot or anything s,mall like that, I have heard the 50% rule so 50 shot would be fine, also i wont use it too much either, but just to be safe, and i think with the mods listed and 35 shot id easily beat the civic. and how muchg is the JDM H22A swap cost on average?

and is it the prelude vteccomes with 2.2 vtecmotor and the others are the 2.3. ir is it the lx accords have the 2.3 also, because ive heard thart the H23 is beter for turrbo because it has lower compression.

It will be dropped with eibach pro kit on 18" quantum tek with 215/35/ZR18 khumos becasue schwab got them wholesale so 1100 for set of 4. will the added weigbht slow it down at all? noticeable?

the big loss of the lx is that they have a manifold instead of a header, and if u put a header on a LX you will have 12-15 more hp. For the muffler it is illegal to drive without a cat. At least you will need to get a high flow cat. You can drop the resonator if u want to. I do not reccomend using piping larger than 2.5" on a 4 banger. As for the nitrous i know jack. An average jdm h22a will be aroun 2300 @ www.jdm1.com

I think that with all those mods you should spank him pretty bad even without the nos.... I have a 93 accord dx I spanked a 01 civic ex and all I have is intake and no resignator..... So you shouldn't have any problems with beating him!!!

[size=1]I think you'll beat him w/out the NOS. The most important thing is the headers. Get 4-2-1 headers and you'll notice a big difference. I have em on my 5th gen accord and they're great. And if you're a better driver thats the biggest advantage anyway, so I think u got him. good luck

ok, In have found the H22A for 2300 and 250 ship, ping from JDM1.com and which of the next 2 cars do you hink would be faster and better for daily

stock engine, I/H/dual E, underdrive pullys.

H22A engine, Vtec controller(like 4500)

the stock with I/H/E and pullies will be cheaper but

also, how much modifiation has to be made to do the swap, do the lude axles fit right in? how hard is it to hook up all linkages, etc...???

and later on the swap will recieve I/H/E and pullies and maybe 50- shot nos

Dude a pretty much stock civic can't do shit! lol You will take him your Accord EX easy, now I'm not sure about any lower model Accords without VTEC but with an EX definately. I only say that cause of previous experience. My car I had before I got my Prelude, was a 95 Accord EX sedan and my buddy has a 00 Civic EX with exhaust and and intake and the day I got the car he was talkin' shit sayin he would spank me in a race. Well lets just say the bone stock Accord took the race. Good luck with the Accord man, they are great cars.

Since you haven't bought the car yet, you can decide if you want an OBDI or OBDII. Starting in US 96, the cars were OBDII. The engine swaps are more expensive than OBDI's and there's less power due to the more emission control. If I were you, I'd get a 95 LX and do the H22A swap.

VTEC is DEFINITELY NOT just a noise.
Anyway. First off, I dont think this guy is running 6.5 0-60 with just an intake on his Civic. he might run a good 7.5 in my opinion. Thats on a good day. If you just get an intake on your accord, you should get up with him easily. After those other mods, stomping him should be easy. REAL EASY.

Nitrous isnt necessary at all. If you want it, a 50 shot is the smallest you can get. Are you interested in making it a race/street car, a race car, or just getting it fast enough to embarass your friend and unsuspecting V6's.

well, actually todya, i wemt and looked at another car, a 94 integra and i bought it, it is a RS buit some way it hasa power windows, steering, cruise and everythign but the moonroof and power locks, but i has intake, DC 4-2-1, strut bar dropped like 3 it looks, 17" konig tantrums, euris, cd amp and subs, ground effects. I drove it and after drivign that and driving my friends civic, I KNOW I wil be able to kill him with just htis, but i think i might get this NOS 50 shot out of JC whitney for this car and use it jus in case a car is ever winning. and if im ever at the track, like that will happen though.

Its funny how that all the true drag racers when they build honda motors DO NOT use motors with V-TECH!! because they have enough since to know that it is useless!!! I might would give it a little more credit in a car that has every mod you can do to one and stay N/A but I doubt it...
V-TECH a noise maker to make you think you are going faster!!!

Now on the other hand secondaries are a whole new ball game!!! You can fell that it does make a difference!!!

first of all, say it with me "V-T-E-C" OK, vtech makes phones and shit. also, are you sure everyone uses motors with out vtec, and I donyt know alot about the poeple who have honda race cars or anything, but it could be that when you have high high boost and NOS then amybe vtec is a problem or somehting, but vtec isnt a noise. amnd i do agree that secondaries are a good thing also. well, hmm, my truck makes a different noise when the secondaries open, maybe they are good for nothing but noise as well?

also if vtec was a noise, why would honda have ever invented the vtec or built the engines with it. it is obviously alot cheaper to make without it. and the lower models sell too, and maybe even if there wasnt the EX and SI civic and the VTEC lude and the GSR and ITR, and thre EX accord, then the lower models would probably sell better. and im not saying vtec does ALOT, but one reason is on the SOHC engines, i have heard only the exhaust valves are opened more, the intake duration and lift stays the same. but obn DOHC you can really notice it.

LATA!
