What would it take for LS to beat an ITR??

Ok, I'm going to have 1995 Integra LS 2 Door (not the one on my profile and ish). My Friend will be running a Integra Type R with Intake, Headers, Exhaust, and a 50 Shot of NOS .
What would it take for me to beat him in a 1/4 as far as Under the Hood Upgrades go? Would it take a nice Turbo System and Bolt on's? What would you guys think?

Post ALOT OF BOLT ONS!!

First off the LS stock 1/4 mile time=15.8-16.1 ITR=14.7-14.9
Ok if you want to beat an ITR you would have to put at least the following. But wait you then need to decide on your setup ALL MOTOR or ASPIRATED. Once you have that figured out you can start. Here is a possible turbo setup that might take the ITR.

Cold Air Intake
Header/Catback
Spoon or Mugen or Hondata Chipped ECU(One programed for the turbo)
T3/T4 Hybrid pushing 10+ psi
A really good set of 16's or 17' inch wheels
Or instead of the chipped ECU a full blown FUEL/ENGINE managment system
High flow fuel rail+injectors
Ignition system
Then last but not least HEAD WORK have someone build your head specifically for the turbo with all the necessary parts to push more psi safely. Oh yea and have someone sleeve the cylinder walls.
That LS should beat the ITR.

Yeah but to keep it simpler all you need is VTEC and a 55 shot to match.

an engine swap. also you don't use a header for a turbo set up, you would need a turbo manifold. and if you wanna race, how about some 15's w/ some 205/50/15 tires. def. fuel management if your gonna go turbo, then hondata stage 3b. swap a itr engine in ur car and build that up. lot's of different ways to do it, but ya if your gonna go turbo, then def have darton or golden eagle sleeve your block

An LS/VTEC will kill a Type R easy. If he sprays it's a different story so.............................you spray too.

wait u said the 1/4 time on an LS is 15.8-16.1?

i have a 90gs and i beat my friends MODDED ls and all i have is an intake.

he has intake, exhaust, hi flow cat, plugs, plug wires, short shifter (all i have is an intake)and i beat him by a carlength in a little more than 1/8th mile. my last integra was a 91gs with intake and exhaust and i got 16.7 on the 1/4 at the track. that doesnt make sense cuz this car is less modded, has 50,000 more miles on the odo and i beat an LS that should be running mid 15s

Can someone please explain to me why a Integra LS w/ a VTEC head can kill an Integra Type R [Which cost a shitload more money.]

Im guessing an LS/VTEC could also kill a GS-R too..? Why is the LS/VTEC combo so powerfull?

What would a GS-R need to keep up w/ a Type R?

thats when it comes down to driver and/or someones car isn't running near as well as it should be. If your friend can drive ;His car is far from par and needs some work.

My 96 LS with nothing more than intake and exauhst runs a solid 16@86mph 1/4 mile. If I tried I could easily pull off a 15.9,15.8.

The LS/VTEC is so powerful from what I understand because the LS block is a true 1.8L block the ITR/GSR both having a 1.7L blocks. The LS has more torque than the ITR/GSR with a Vtec head because of its longer stroke (I think).

GSR vs ITR
To put it simply besides your basic mods Intake/exauhst
50 shot of nos. Itll get you past the ITR.

Damn I would have thought twice about buying an LS if I knew that before. How much does a VTEC Head install on an LS cost?

the head alone is like $200ish... well worth it if the LS/vtec is faster because insurance for a LS is way cheaper than a GS-R. the GS-R is more reliable than an LS/vtec, but if tuned properly it'll be just as reliable
