Greg Anderson's '03 Vegas general NHRA Grand Am PS

Well it's finally finished. My first fully detailed NHRA Pro Stock. With the completion of this car I've now officially built a detailed version of all three of NHRA's Pro classes.

The build started with the Revell Summit Pontiac Firebird kit as a base. The resin Grand Am body came from Competition Resins, and was completely cut apart th have the removable nose, and open doors. Decals by Slixx, along with a few for the interior printed on my Alps. The front and rear suspensions were almost completely scratch built using RB Motion rod ends, and Scale Hardware bolts. The chassis was also almost totally scratch built to better fit the new Grand Am body using Evergreen styrene rod in various sizes.

The kit engine was used along with new valve covers by Bob Dudek, braided lines and fittings from Pro Tech, and Detail Master. The carbs are resin peices from Pro Tech, and almost everything else was scratch built, and fully plumbed. The paint is House of Kolor, with clear from Omni. I also turned close to 50 parts from brass, aluminum, and plastic to use throughout the entire car. Time to build as about six months with several breaks in there for other projects. I did have a few trouble spots along the way but for the most part it was a really enjoyable project. I'm already thinking about the next one!!

Special thanks to my buddy Dave, (skylinefan) for laying the groundwork, and giving me a goal to aim for with his awesome WJ Pro Stock. And for all his advice and help along the way. I would have never made it without his help. Thanks!

On to the pics........

Good Lord!! That is amazing!! The detail has me awestruck! Every sub-assembly is a complete model in and of itself!! The paint and decalwork are almost otherworldly in their appearance! Great modelling indeed!

Very nice, does the hood fit on the chassis?

if so, could you take a picture with closed hood and doors?

This must be one of the best build I've EVER seen. Amazing detail. Piping looks 1:1. Wow. And lovely pics, too. Bravo, Maestro.

Seriously Clay. That is a thing of beauty. We have come to expect work like this from you, but if you ever try replicating, you get an understanding REALLY QUICK, of how tedious and the tremendous amount of patience a guy like you must have.
Outstanding.

Simply gorgeous stuff Clay. This is up to your usual standards and the bar has been raised higher again. One questions, does the front clip fit on? I would love to see a pic whith all body panels in place.
Cheers,
Shayne
