1959 Impala 2dr. Hardtop--Done!

Hi all. This is Revell's 1959 Chevrolet Impala custom 2 'n 1. Since I hated the looks of the custom, I built the model factory stock. Under the pictures is a list of details I added.

DETAILS ADDED

Engine:
  • Spark plug wires and looms
  • Coolant temp sender, oil pressure sender, and wiring
  • Throttle return springs and linkage
  • Fuel line and hand-built pump
  • Drive belt (masking tape)
  • Power steering fluid hoses
Chassis:
  • Brake hard lines, T-valves, and hoses
  • Emergency brake cables
  • Fuel line
  • Coil springs (copper wire)
  • Complete engine bay wiring harness (accurately colored wiring to lights, horns, alternator, etc.)
  • Washer fluid hoses
  • Battery cables
Interior:
  • Seatbelts (masking tape) and buckles (.01" sheet plastic)
  • Photoetch dash script, steering wheel center, ignition switch, ignition key, glovebox lock, ashtrays, and door handles (by Model Car Garage)
  • Flocking
Body and exterior:
  • Polished and waxed Model Master gloss black enamel
  • Bare-Metal Ultra-Brite Chrome foil
  • Photoetch hood script and emblem
  • Photoetch side and rear emblems
  • Photoetch door locks
  • Photoetch rear license plate
  • Photoetch wiper blades
  • Sheet plastic and wire wiper arms (lower arms are kit parts)
  • Functional realistic scissor-type hood hinges, each with six pieces of sheet plastic and five metal pins
  • Photoetch front mesh (next to blinkers, above grille)
I also drilled out the exhaust tips and painted the tiny slots in the wheels with a wash. Overall, I think it turned out quite well. Feel free to comment or ask how I did things! Unlike some, I don't hold any "trade secrets." I'm happy to share my techniques! And I welcome any criticism so I can do a better job next time. Thanks!
Alex
