I'm also in no rush and don't see myself playing hundreds just to be complete so I'll probably go with what's being produced...IXO and HPI it seems. Haven't bought either yet, do you have a preference between the two? The HPI in the shots above I think look great.
My preference is definitely HPI as their models seem to be even better than Minichamps in their quality and detail. I have the 19R GTR'97 presentation and waiting for the some other long tails that other manufacturers haven't released. The fantasy and plain body versions do not interest me at all. Will see if I'm tempted enough to buy some of the Le Mans versions as I already have them as Minichamps. I have also about ten of the different IXOs but I stopped buying them couple of years ago as I think they are not worth it for me: they use the same basic molds (one for short tails and one for long tails) for every model they make and only decals and paintings are changed. Also their future value doesn't seem promising for me, so I'll invest more in the quality now and in the future; less models but better quality/accuracy = happy collector. :p

http://www.miniwheels.be/preorder/merk/1290
The orange 1:12 was announced about a year ago with the metallic blue standard F1 in 1:12, about the same time as they announced the LM'97 GTRs (#39, #41 and #44) and 01R #59 in 1:18. But like the "tradition" of Minichamps, they all have been postponed and now they don't even give any release date estimates. Last was December 2010 before they changed it to "unknown" status (TBA). :(

Those 1/18 Minichamps models have been long time in the site. First there was couple of delays and now there is even no info what month or time these new are going to be relaseded. There is just text "to be announced", so the waiting keeps on.
I have waited that #01R about an year allready. Hope the waiting is worth it.

Finally got time to take some shots of this newest HPI #19R.
The quality is very good, very very good. Better than Minichamps, defenitely.
And the price with post cost 51€ is incredible cheap!
Hope this company will do the #01R Presentation or 1995 Le Mans pre-qualifying livery soon!
HERE (http://kuvablogi.com/blog/1949/181/) is the rest of the pictures included the history of #19R presentation livery, why, what changes of 96' model and so on.

Yep, way too high starting price in my opinion too. Even before the financial crisis these were sold around USD 500 with the silver LM, some without the original box fetched only around USD 200. So above USD 1000 is pure madness these days.

Need your advice guys.
I worked on a concept car, many years ago but it was canned before it went into production. I just noticed a 1/43 scale model has appeared by a company called 'Yow Modellini'
Anyone have experience of this brand. Any good? Its not cheap, but I've never seen before

My understanding is that Yow Modellini's kits are of a similar quality as Provence Moulages, not on par with BBR and MR resin kits. So the end result depends heavily on the skills of the builder, what he can do out of it by modifying the the base kit and adding the details even from scratch.
The costs of the kits are due to the low production volumes compared to the bigger names which do not provide such low selling concept and prototype cars. They focus more on the bigger volume models (e.g. F430, 458 Italia etc.) and so they can also provide their kits for lower prices. Just basic economics: rarities always tend to have their prices. ;)

Sami, nice to see that #42!
I also took some shots for comparison of the 1/43 Minichamps and HPI, LM'97 LARK #44:

Color is better on the Minichamps, but in every other aspects the HPI is way ahead. Well, there's about 12 years difference between them, so would be quite disappointing if HPI would have been only little better than the old. :p

Doc, superb images! Thank You!
Really see the huge difference about HPI and Minichamps. The detailing is big way a head in HPI, every angle you watch it; the detailing is stunning.
Here is some more pics about #42. I've took these by hand, not stand.
ISO3200, shutter time around 100 and f 5 so the sharpness isn't so good I've hoped.

Hi guys, it's been a while since I posted. Same may remember me as I've collected some McLarens over the years.
I often buy multiple colors of my favorite models, since I'm never gonna sell these I often give them some special treatment I think helps differ them from eachother and give them a more special place in my collection.
I love the new look and I'm much more satisfied with each model haveing some extra individuality added to them.
I use my N97 camera with a shitty flash so bare with me.
I gave the platinum one "pure metallic gold" and the black one "ghost metallic black" (very diffucult to catch on pics, almost a transparent clear metallic with black effect, awesome!).
Here are my Autoart's

Bottom shelf reserved for their white brother coming in next week.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to get a black one and add the red stripes on the ventlines. Then I'll have my own little chassis #015.
If the white one had an interior that matched #053 then I'd go that route instead.

Greetings and cheers all. I'm new to the forum, etc.
I'm doing research to find out what if anyone is tracking the current going rate for UT 1:18 McLaren F1 cars. I have about 10-15 of them. Besides tracking items on Ebay, does anyone else have a tracking price sheet or list?
I might be interested in selling a few or all of them.
[Sorry if this is a repeat. just started all previous posts. please forward any previous posts related to my question]

Here is very interesting video about UT's XP1 LM. Quite nice isn't it?:smokin:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1gOlqJHddvo
About the UT prices:
This moment around 85-250€ is the price range. Mostly around 100-130€, but someones asking those more. And example Team Bigazzi's #16R/#17R Le Mans #38/#39 are more expensive usually. This moment #38 is buy it now - 250€ there.
Too bad, I'm looking for one. 1/18 UT #16R Le Mans number #38, but it seems quite impossible thing to get under 200 and that's too much.

Keep at it and you'll find some at decent prices. I have 3 1/18 UT F1s (01R, 16R, and 17R) all off of ebay. 01R for $75.01 shipped from asia (back in late 2007) as well as the pair of FINAs for $380 shipped from Germany. The last two I got by emailing a seller of a different GTR (Fina presentation) before the two other went up for auction. Okay prices I suppose considering what they go for now 3 years ago (maybe slight drop in price).

I'm looking to complete my collection of Fina F1s...the presentation car as well as the two longtails is all I need. I will probably spend more time in a few years looking for it...too busy now. ;)

^^^^
The original doubles (ABL005/6/9) have much prettier display case! And much better in size. ;)

I picked one of these up in the States at Christmas, it was the first time I'd seen it and I thought I'd better get one. Nothing fancy but good for the money.

I think Sami linked to it earlier on in the thread (?)
ETA - Sami started it here (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=6837469&postcount=200) and Mactotas raised a question on it here (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=6847326&postcount=204) before being replied to by Sami (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=6847458&postcount=205)
although it was in a different livery..... ;)

Yep, I have this one.
I don't know is that #10R Prsesentation livery an official or what it is, but atleast this #01R's presentation has mostly seen, Hotwheels homepage and so on.

Finally I get them ready, here is some images of Autobarn's model of Team Bigazzi's Le Mans #38, chassis number #16R. Hope you like these.:)
As some of you well know, I cosidered this long long time, should I or shouldn't I pay for it that much what these Autobarns's where asked. After having good close deep discussions some of the Forum Members (A Big Thank You!!!); I decided to go for it and forget UT's 1/18 version.
Reasons where simple: lacking detailing, nothing differences to other UT's GTR Models, and defenitely the size.
Now when I have had it couple of weeks; it was defenitely the right choise. Defenitely!

Autobarn compared to Minichamps's Dealer Edition:
The difference is clear but suprisingly not so big what would expect. Minichamps are very good models as you can see. Not shamed by Autobarn.

It has the same beatifull box what Minichamps has. Total lenght of the model is around 5cm. Still the detailing is superb level.
