Seems that AutoArt and HPI are bringing new F1 models to the markets in the near future. I found these images by checking Romu's 'report' from recent Nurnberg Toy Fair.

And as we're talking about Minichamps, there's a chance that some of the announced ones never materialize! :shakehead

Now as AutoArt is shown the forthcoming road car, I guess it will put some pressure on Minichamps' planned releases of similar 1/18 road cars, as the AutoArt's has features similar to Minichamps' 1/12. Minichamps' blue 1/18 was only a minor upgrade to the old UT's to my mind seeing some photos of it few months ago. Now those images have been taken down from the sites I saw them. Everyone can make their own conclusions about that.

Recently got my 1/43 Minichamps Le Mans 1995-98 McLaren F1 GTR collection completed. It took almost 3,5 years but I wasn't in a rush about it. :evillol:

The original plan was to get them all as the ACO versions but not sure if they will continue it anymore as they haven't been such a success they might thought. So I had to rethink it and filled the gaps I had with the original editions. Perhaps I could also do it the other way and find the missing original editions, or just buy another of each of the ACO's and plant them to those traditional Minichamps bases. :iceslolan

The orange one is one of those AutoModelers built from a AB kit. It's more likely a fantasy one. Then the carbon one isn't even from a AB kit, only a cheap Provence Moulage copy without engine details. Plenty of these were sold on eBay around 2006/07.

That yellow 1/43 F1 is on sale one of the Finnish scale model shops in Helsinki, priced 36€.

Has anyone else noticed the price of relatively high-end 1/43's at auction, not buy-it-now, dropping? I've bought a few Autobarns recently as they are geting super-cheap (one for $90!!). Seems it's not just AB though; I just bought another 1/43 Davidoff GTR by Minichamps, mint in its original for about £55!

Yes I have, but most of them are such that either I already have or I'm not interested (mostly road cars)! And I try to avoid buying doubles as I already have 100+ 1/43 Macs. :frown:

I too and only interested in GTR's; just short tails. I have been buying sometimes more than 1 of each that have come to auction as they have been so cheap I can [hopefully :wink:] sell them at a later date for a profit to fund more buys, whislt keeping just the one of each for Thomas.

I'd like to see also good 1/43 handbuilts of the long tails. Especially 19R in presentation livery and the 1997 Suzuka #44 as well as 22R 1998 FIA GT Davidoff #15 (not the Day Off version). Also better versions of others such as the FINAs would be nice. At the moment there're some nice ones, but they're in 1/24 like the Studio27 kits, and the kits cost already 150 EUR or more. :frown:

NICE! How big are they? I shied away from 1/43's as I liked the 1/18's and thought they would be too small - they are pretty good :thumbsup:, and I have seen Erik post about a 1/87 - have you / can you get pics of the 1/64's next to say the 1/43's and / or 1/18's for a scale comparison?

This is kind of a crappy shot, as I've doubled it in size from what I originally had, but it shows a PMA 1/87th, then a PMA 1/64th, then a Minichamps 1/43rd, then a UT 1/18th, and finally a PMA 1/12th.

When I get around to it, I'll take a better version of this shot with all my silver F1 in those scales.

The PMA 1/64ths are kind of oddly shaped - a bit too long, or a bit too flat. I held off on the purchase of these Kyosho's waiting to get a better idea of how exactly they look in comparison, and DM's pics seem to show they're much more accurate.

I hope these will help a little about the scales. These are my Minichamps 1/43, 1/64 and 1/87 models of the standard road car. BTW the 1/87 was my first F1 model in the 90's. ;)

I'm trying to stick with the 1/43s as the bigger ones take too much space and the smaller ones look too much like toys to me. But still they're a nice addition to the F1 miniatures. Funny thing is that Kyosho made the same mistake with the Lark #60 on the engine cover coloring as Minichamps! ;)

I have the Minichamps F1's in 1/64 and 1/87 scale (red/silver/green and BMW) . Always perplexed why the 1/87 scale have exterior mirrors and the 1/64ths don't!

Kyosho did pretty well on these. I just hope they come out with 07r soon. I have it in 1:43rd, but would love to see it in 1:64.

WOW, was there ever a financial crisis? Or did the US dollar loose that much value in a couple of years as originally these sold around $1200 in 2007. I would rather have couple of those nice 1/24 Larks than this as it has been painted using an incorrect red: it should be the fluorescent red, which is closer to orange in a daylight, not a solid red.

The most of the 1/43's are only papaya orange GTRs as they are made of the similar molds they use for the other GTRs, especially the diecasts (Minichamps, IXO). Some handbuilt makers or pro builders have made some customs but the only 1/43 LM that was made in a bigger series (200 pcs) is the Davis&Giovanni's LM. It was built using the AutoBarn GTR kit and modified to present better the LM, but still not perfect. Romu (Japan) has sold it already out few years ago so the only chance is to get a second hand copy of it, but if you really want it, prepare to pay something USD 500+ of it.

the only one i've ever seen was made by a company called "Davis & Giovanni", but the only place i've ever seen one was on an japaenese website, which is now sold out of them. best bet would be a papaya GTR as you mentioned.

I would guess that current value of that AMS012 version with CF-base is worth about USD 300-400 depending on how well it's kept. The regular base version AM013 would maybe be some USD 50 less of that.

Availability is very limited currently but AutoBarn has one for sale on eBay (autex) but I'm not sure which one it is as the image is of AMS012 and text says AMS013. Would need to ask.

That Pre-Qualifying liveried #01R is super rare case. If you have one, do not sell it! :lol2:

I really would like to have one, but never those prices.
IXO has done a quite often seen model of that, but it lacks detailing guite much, no drivers names on the door is the biggest reason not to get one.
That Autobarn model would be the most perfect to me, having Lehto's name on the door.

There has been rumours from Autobarn, that in the future, they might release both again, Pre-Qualifying and the race liveried #01R.... If someone is interested, please contact there, I'm sure you'll get more information of that. :smile:

I've been keeping an eye on the listing of #01R in prequalifying livery by autex, and bought a few GTR's off him and he is [for what my recommendation is worth?...] a great eBayer.

His one is going for approx £269, a lot more than the £168 for the other GTR models; is there a reason for this do you reckon? They aren't super-rare, as only 100 are made, but on the flip side this is the first I have noticed for a long time up for sale

Actually there were 102 official pieces of this 01R pre-qualifying car, 52 of them as "forum model" AMS012 with the CF-base and with the first owners nickname on the plaque. This version has the incorrect "Test Day" on it. Then there is the AMS013 limited to 50 pieces with the regular base and with the correct "Pre-Qualifying - 30 April 1995" plaque. Both of these were released around 2005/2006 when the markets were booming and also the AMS013 sold out very quickly and its prices on eBay went sky high, one I saw going for USD 555. Only few others have topped that. But as we're talking about eBay, it only needs two to want it such badly... and you know the rest.

As long as there's "roadcar 1994" I can't believe it being anything else than just the similar 1:12 standard street version as they've had in different colors. LM would necessitate a whole new mold and it is questionable would it be profitable to do it as they would need to do at least some 5000 models with it to come anywhere near to the costs doing it and if the models had to be priced competitively. Maybe they could do some GTRs then with little tweaks to make it work out. :dunno:
