Okay, to date, as far as I'm aware, we've had Minichamps/PMA, Guiloy, Maisto, Ixo Models, Autobarn and ??? producing scales from 1/5th to 1/87th scale models. Has anyone here compiled a definitive guide to all models known to have been produced?

That's chassis #031 Patrick.
I probably have one of the most complete collections of images in order to produce a list like the one this thread is seeking. I just need the time to pull it all together, and then help from everyone to identify some of the lesser known versions.

Davis & Giovanni (in Japan, as far as I know), produced a range of F1 Road Cars from the same kits AutoBarn used, a lot of them heavily modified into long tails, prototypes, etc. They marketed some, if not all, of them under the name "Chameleon Motors".

Right here!
Oboy, this is going to be a long list.
The good news is what Noddy said above! I surely hope this will come through.
The re-issued silver 1:12 is now availiable, but the asking price is still high. $600 for a model thats basically the same as 10 years ago.

Has nothing to do with a definitive model list, but I couldn't find thread to put it under and didn't want to start a new one. I finally got my display case set up and am waiting for the final addition to the display. I believe the 1/12 silver one from Minichamps is on the way and so left a vacant spot for it. I realize that they are not all Mclarens, but they occupy the top shelf. I have about 10 more tucked away, but the display case is only so large. Hope you'll enjoy the pics.

I just found out, that the 1/18 scale #01R which I have had atleast over 10ears, has been made by UT Models, today the company is AutoArt models.
Seems that UT Models has been made also the LM's, and F1 Roadcars and GTR's. Found also at the Internet that UT Models has been made atleast this one:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1%2F18-UT-MODELS---MCLAREN-F1-GTR---GULF-%2324---MIB-RARE!!_W0QQitemZ160315532958QQcmdZViewItemQQimsxZ2 0090213?IMSfp=TL090213112001r6667#ebayphotohosting (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1%2F18-UT-MODELS---MCLAREN-F1-GTR---GULF-%2324---MIB-RARE%21%21_W0QQitemZ160315532958QQcmdZViewItemQQim sxZ20090213?IMSfp=TL090213112001r6667#ebayphotohos ting)
Here is the LM:
http://www.1-18scalecars.com/0McLaren_F1_LM.htm
Today AutoArt doesn't seem to manufacture these McLarens anymore, I wonder why? The quality of my #01R is exelent...Like you can see that GULF McLaren pictures also.
Have anyone information about this?
Maybe in the future they will produce more of McLarens or not?

Anyone know if PMA/MC plans on re-releasing the FINA #8 and #9 longtail GTRs in 1:18? Have they considered making the #42 and #43 FINA longtail GTRs as well? Those are the only remaining 1:18 F1s I want other than the BMW dealer box FINA presentation. I only have a 1:18 Maisto F1 road car, and 1/18 UT Ueno, #38 Fina, and #39 Fina.

Those are the only remaining 1:18 F1s I want other than the BMW dealer box FINA presentation. I only have a 1:18 Maisto F1 road car, and 1/18 UT Ueno, #38 Fina, and #39 Fina.
What PMA/MC plan to do and actually do never seem to match.

I saw a silver 1/12 in a local model shop today, assuming it's the Minichamps car?
Anyways, it's a really good model, they've also got a smaller sized #06R but it's not brilliant, it suffers from the fact that it's yet another model that can't get the front lights shaped correctly, and it has horrible shiny gold wheels for a reason I can't quite fathom.
I'd dearly love to have the 1/12 car, but couldn't bring myself to spend £230+ on a model car, it's just not worth it to me.

True statement about the cost of the 1/12 Mc, but I just had to have one. The one in the photo is the second one shipped. The first one was slightly damaged and this one had issues when it arrived, but I was able to fix them without any problem. It has completed my display and I am now looking for another place to put another case (I'll have to convince my wife). I like the way everything turned out and am happy with the display. Enjoy the shots. It was a long time coming, but I couldn't call my McLaren collection complete (far from complete) without having a 1/12 in the mix. Enjoy:grinyes:

Just looking long list of BMW_Willaims reply, and now have to ask:
Has UT MODELS manufactured never 1/18 size these 1996 season GTR's:
- GULF number 2
- Marlboro number 2
GULF #2 is Suzuka 1000km winner.
Marlboro #2 is Zhuhai's 3 place car.
The chassis, if this has any matter was #12R.
Both cases the drivers were:
BELLM
WEAVER
LEHTO
I have allready try to find out an aswer for this, but haven't got clear about this.
I'm very,VERY greatfull for the quick reply of this subject!

Due to tobacco advertising bans in place, I'm pretty sure that the Marlboro one never appeared.

My 1/43rd Marlboro F1 is from Provence Moulage (IIRC) and has been sitting with the model builder for about 5 years still in the box, along with about 6 other kits of mine!
Of the Minichamps 1/43rd range, both the West and Davidoff cars are the highly collectable/valuable ones, as far as I'm aware due to the tobacco advertising.
Can't understand how Ixo get past it though.
No doubt someone will be able to answer.

Yep, seems that some of those are very expensive. Recent weeks I have searched EBAY quite hard and founded almoust everything what I have been wanted. And finally got the GULF 2 and Marlboro 2 GTR'swith tobacco advertising.
There is even on sale wihtout those Marlboro textes some IXO's, where the seller has the right textes with the car. The buyer just must to stick those text him self on the car and that's it, you have a rare Marlboro IXO on your collection. Of course the price is about 100$ with those self sticked textes but......
But really can't understand some of those prices, 250$, or 580$ about 1/43 Minichamps or Auto Barn models. The prices are grazy. Someway I understand the Model Work Shop's 1/12 price 1400$, but not those smaller ones. :sly:
Well this hobby is about how rare and wanted some model is, and the real fans will pay them self to sick to get them.
I'm a real fan also but I have somekind of limits, what I'm ready to pay...:licka:

Has anyone seen a scale model of 1997 Longtail, FINA number #8 (#21R), J.J Lehto / Steve Soper, (Winner of Helsinki example).
I have tryed to find it, but everywhere is only that Le Mans version number #42 available. So is it existing att all or is it so rare...?

I have wondered, it is clever to release the models on the stand where the models are attached?
I have serval GTR's by UT Models (over 10 years ago bought is not more on the stand) and one 1/18 Kyosho Lamborghini Countach, is it better to leave them attached to the stand or is it too much difference, if takes it of there and keep the model boxes on safe place?
I do not have any thoughts to sell these never, so that point there is no an orginal box-subject.
But please tell your oppinnion, I know that I'm not the only one, who has UT McLaren F1's on self, so please tell your oppinnion!

I have wondered, is it [better] to release the models [from] the stand the models are attached to?
I have several GTR's by UT Models (bought over 10 years ago, [but] are no longer on the stand) and one 1/18 Kyosho Lamborghini Countach. Is it better to leave them attached to the stand or [remove them] and keep the model boxes [in a] safe place?
I do not have any thoughts to [ever] sell these, so [why keep] an original box?
But please tell your opinion. I know that I'm not the only one who has UT McLaren F1's on [the] shelf, so please, tell your opinion!
IMO, it is better to remove the model from the stand and display it in whatever setting you prefer, but... ALWAYS keep the box, stand and screws somewhere! In my case, I don't currently have the room to display all my models, so the others are in storage, mounted on the stands and in their original boxes. Also, should you have to move in the future, it is the safest way to transport them undamaged.

OK, I have thought that solution also for them, what you suggested.
I do not have eather room to set display them all (main thing is that I have them finally), so some of them are still in the an orginal boxes at the closet. I will keep the boxes and screws defenitely, even that I remove the model of the stand. You're right that safety thing about the future, so the boxes will stay.
Thanks for tip!

When I displayed all my models, the boxes, plastic straps and all fixings were kept and the cars displayed seperately. When it came time to move out of home, It was easier to transport the cars in their boxes. Also recently, I am glad I kept them in their boxes after the move as a few of the rarer ones I've sold, and they command a higher price if they are still in their original boxes

What is the quality of the Guiloy models compared to the UT ones? Are they made from the same tooling but under new ownership?
hurstg01

[snob on] I have always thought Guiloy were inferior to UT. Their models 'look' out of proportion whereas UT are relatively close to the actual , this being reflected by their price[/snob off]

Yep, that's what I have hear too, Guiloy looks far away good but not close... I think.
I recomend to find UT Models at EBAY, the quality doesn't fail. The 1/18 scale is good and the models looks right by every way you look it. And the + - 100€ price is quite right.
Also Minichamps 1/43 and IXO 1/43 can be recomend, because there really isn't too much supply these specific models.
Minichamps is better than IXO but I can recomend both.
Off Topic:
IXO 1/43 Countach's are actually allmoust better than 1/43 GTR McLarens, I wonder why.

Quick question about the 1:12 re-release:
Does anyone know if it's identical to the original release in detail? It would be a shame to see that the newer version is just a quickly hashed endeavor by Minichamps to make more money...:banghead:

I have one, but have never opened the box.
It's my understanding they've used the identical moulds. The one thing I saw someone comment on was that the wheel nuts aren't painted gold on the newer version. I don't consider that a huge deal as they aren't really all gold in real life. The real one I have certainly isn't (more bronze I guess) and I've seen silver colored versions too.

I think the box it comes in is the only real difference
I have few old versions and few new versions and these are the differences i noticed:
1. New version - Graphics on the Box and less rigid box
Old version - Mclaren Logo on the green Box and more rigid box
2. New version - Styrofoam box has additional plasic inserts to hold the doors tight in place
Old version - No additional plastic inserts in the styrofoam box
3. New version - Black winshield viper, Black Door Locks, Black Fuel Caps, Black wheel nuts
Old version - Silver touch on winshield, Silver door locks, silver fuel caps, Golden wheel nuts
4. New Version - glossy look on tires ( like someone gave tire dressing)
Old version - Natural color on tires
I personally like the old versions over the new version! :)

So i don't know if you guys have been looking at the minichamps website at all...but apparently they are "about" to come out with a metallic blue 1:12 scale mclaren!! This is not to be confused with the first series 1:12 scale dark metallic blue! Could we be getting XP4?

Noddy announced that same info here back in February in this post (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=5908934&postcount=27). I still haven't seen a real photo of this blue version, or anyone actually offering to sell one. It took the silver ones quite a while to arrive from the time they were announced until the time they went on sale, so I continue to hold out hope this new metallic blue will eventually materialize.

What is the best 1/43 F1 to get? Is it the rarest? The most expensive? The best manufacturer and if so, who is it?
So far I've heard it's the short-tail Davidoff #8 car, or the West #8 car? or another.....
