Sweet!

Thanks, Roger.

That brown interior has always appealed to me.
It's a pity 003 doesn't have that many (well-documented) outings... :(

Hi Sebas

Your 1st 2 pictures aren't working for me (it could be my work PC though :banghead:) - as for the clickable thumbnails, as you are using imagevenue once you have chosen your pic, selected 'safe for work' and the image re-appears on another webpage, you need to use the 2nd box (I think you are using the 1st box) where in the box the link begins with [url=. Hopefully that'll give you the clickable thumbnails.

Several past discussions have narrowed this one down to #029 or #039. Figure out the chassis number of the F1 in Mexico and I will tell you which car this one is, or vice versa. :p This was the car spotted at Iding Power once we stopped imagining that it was the Tag Heuer F1, presumed to have been #012. It's also prominently displayed in one of the videos that Le Man has shared screengrabs from.

I believe the original owner of this car was also the original owner of chassis #018.

Something else, very interesting, that I just found - you'll need to register to see the images:

I don't know... That seems to be what's implied by his posts. :dunno:

It would certainly be the most outrageous thing I have ever heard in relation to the F1.

Its been a few years, but might be worth contact the BimmerForums poster to see what else he can tell us.

...and if the Chassis History Poster included with "Driving Ambition" is also correct. :uhoh: ;)

Great find there though - I didn't have time to disect the listing earlier. That makes the car seen in Mexico most likely #039. We can call it "mystery solved" when we have a shot of the chassis plate on one of these brown cars.

The picture of the engine seems to set aside the idea of any upgrade having been done. Phew - that was a close one...

Hi!

Is there a chance, that this colour is Creighton Brown?
This special pinkish-brown shade made for a japanese customer?

It is mentioned in this thread, that there is a possibility that the chassis#s 029 and 039 were mixed on the poster from "Driving Ambition" - the car in Creighton Brown and Creighton Brown's own car...

^^ Yes, there is a chance, although after reading Le Man's post re Burajirianburuan its not quite 50/50. There have been a few anomolies on the DA poster as mentioned by Erik a couple of posts up, and we are still not 100% as to which car is which colour brown. Both Erik and Le Man has had some great contact and posts regarding the darker brown F1 here (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=4580136&postcount=10), here (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=4589373&postcount=28) and here (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=4583551&postcount=22)

The chassis plate shot will be the defining answer to what chassis is what colour.

Anything is possible with these two cars - really!

I tend to think the one seen in Mexico looks more like the color references I have found for "Brazilian Brown" than this car does. Maybe ArtSports got the detail on the color name wrong...? Again, the chassis plate will answer all (or most?) questions here.

Anyone up for a trip to Japan this week? :iceslolan

:)

The interesting thing about when someone Photoshops an image to hide details is that frequently the thumbnail displays the original image when viewed in Explorer on a PC. As a follow up to your post I went to see if any of the images I had of what we think is #070 fell victim to this "feature".

I ended up having three images in my folder of shots that seem to give a fairly good impression of what it says on the plate. I had never really looked at them closely before, but it appears to me that the license plate on the car we think is chassis #070 actually reads "70" - hardly a coincidence I think? :grinno:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v482/Peloton25/McLaren%20F1%20E/license_plate_70.jpg

I looked through the other silver Japanese F1s I had photos of, and #013 wore an "89-96" plate. I have no references of any plate for #063. I tend to think there is one other silver F1 in Japan that we haven't really accounted for so maybe this new image is that car. I must say I am surprised that an F1 at McLaren didn't have the license plate covered or removed - very rare to see that.

It looks like it was taken just as #011 had its refit / before it went to the States....

Well - the car that was posted by Greg was registered May 1998 or later!
One can read following things on the license plate:

http://img142.imageshack.us/img142/4408/dsc02860bde1.th.jpg (http://img142.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dsc02860bde1.jpg)

Red:
Registration center
Shinagawa (one of five registration centers in the Tokyo prefecture)

Blue:
Vehicle class code
3xx - heavy passenger car with more than 2000cc
NOTE: The triple-digit code was first introduced May 1998 for new registered cars in the big cities, by May 1999 all prefectures had converted over to triple-digit codes!
Between 1967 - 98/99 they used double-digit codes.

Yellow:
Hiragana prefix
One of 29 characters used for private vehicles with more than 660cc.
It's more or less a safety feature used to prevent faking license plates!

Green:
Four-digit serial number
If one has a single, double or triple-digit serial number, then the number is written as follows:
00 0x, 00 xx or 0x xx
In single, double or triple-digit serial numbers the zero is pictured with a dot!
Here: .. .8 = 00 08

Of course the first VWVortex commenter to reply blows his wad over the picture of the Audi RS2. :screwy:

I really like the GT in this scheme. I have always loved the West livery in both Formula 1 and on the West Adrenaline GTR, and this appears to be a subdued, simplified execution of that theme. It pulls it off very well.

It's funny, no one has ever seen a GT finished in a lighter color before, and it really gives the car a fresh perspective. I personally love how much more dramatic the front louvres look!

It looks better than when viewed here (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=762225) during shakedown

It's a shame the burgundy has gone, but I think it's stunning, especially sat next to the Hakinnen F1 in the same colours
