Hi F1 Monster,
ZAZ MUSEUM.
What better place to go, to make your trip to Japan an enjoyable event. To see an F1LM and F1GT in the same place. This feat can only be achieved if you go to woking or Bunei. Plenty of pics of both, opened up of course :bigthumb: also not forgetting the rest of the awesome collection. Enjoy yourself.
Better check their web site for opening times!!

If you will be anywhere near Tokyo, it does appear that BingoSports still has the Gulf Longtail GTR. I wouldn't miss the chance to see that if I were you.
Also, the white Koenigsegg CCX looks pretty impressive too.

thanks for the info guys. i went to bingo sport and they were pretty adamant about no pictures, so i only have a few ;-) ...will post when i get back.
for the museum, i hope to get to it...but its two hours by train out of tokyo. it is closed tue and wed so i will have my japanese friend call them today during their opening hours to make sure i can visit tomorrow. they dont seem to have an answering machine--weird. i wont have my japanese guide with me tomorrow so it might be tough and i dont want to waste half a day riding around in trains and end up not being able to make it because of some trivial language problem. bingo was tough enough to find and that is right in the heart of tokyo. we will see, but i do hope to make it.
if any of you plan to visit japan and go outside tokyo, be sure to buy a rail travel card in your country. it will pay for itself many times over.

Well, it was just sitting there when I got there, right in the window. So it was a bit strange...one of the most exclusive cars in the world, just sitting in a shop window. It did not look too special, especially with a CLK GTR next to it, and an MC12 beyond that, and a few other exotics scattered around it. There was a white Koenigsegg CCX there also, and a CLK DTM. Also, there was a beautiful 288 GTO and a Murcielago and LP640. Hopefully they are all in my pics.
They want 3.8 million USD for the F1, and apparently someone in Hong Kong is close to buying it. No spares, no service history, no information other than what you can get out of the factory.
The tires looked new, though, and the car was in immaculate condition. Up close, you can see that the whole car is covered in a big vinyl wrap. I guess it is bare carbon fiber underneath but I dont know. It is not painted, just wrapped. The colors are beautiful up close, with a nice sheen and very pretty fades from one color to another.
I am happy I saw it.
Tomorrow is my last full day in Japan and I am planning on going to a town from where I can see Mt. Fuji. So I really hope to be able to go to ZAZ as well, which is in a different direction, but I dont know if I will make it. My priority is Mt. Fuji over a bunch of parked cars, even if one of them is an F1 LM! :-) Chances are, though, that I will be coming back to Japan quite regularly. I have fallen in love with the place.

BTW, I was able to take the new Skyline GTR for a nice drive yesterday, but I would have preferred to testdrive some of the saleswomen at the showroom instead. The two Nissan showrooms in Ginza have some really amazing-looking women working there. I had a lot of questions, all of a sudden. :-)
Highly recommended.

i made it to zaz yesterday. it was a small place but it had amazing supercars. photography was forbidden and there were security cameras everywhere. i had to do some serious sweet talking through my translator...eventually they relented and even opened up the barriers and allowed me to sit in the lm and take pictures. the gt was the maroon car, repainted. it was locked and they couldnt find the key so i wasnt able to get into it. i hope the serial number is known because i couldnt really see it in the dim light. perhaps it will be visible after touching up one of the several pics i took through the windscreen. i will post the pics after i get home, in a couple of days.
other notable cars were f40, f40 lm, jaguar xjr 15, and a pearl white fxx to match the owners pearl white enzo. the owners own a bunch of casinos/slot machine halls called pachinko in japan, their company is called called zent and the main division is called zaz amusement.
the cars are not driven too often, perhaps twice a year. once for a festival in the summer, once around xmas.
the owner had a white f1 as well, it was sold back to the factory and from there...i hope peloton/hurst or one of the other experts knows.
there was a lot of information about the gtrs and the racing scene but my translator had a sore throat by then, so i guess that will have to wait till my next visit. apparently a green f1 is on display a half hour away. and there is some connection to someone named Mark in Australia who owns a Ford dealership. He has two McLaren F1s, including the Lark GTR, if I understood it all correctly.
this place is far, far away from tokyo. two hours by train to nagoya. then another half hour by local subway train to fugikawa. then a half hour by bus to the second to last stop. i was planning on going there on my own, but thank god i didnt--i would never have been able to find the right trains and buses and it would have killed the day. i dont recommend visiting zent museum unless you speak japanese or have the street address and plan on driving there in a car with sat nav.

He had, not has, the Lark F1 (#13R) but that now is owned by a German businessman, and resides between the South of France, the UK and Germany. I guess the green F1 would be #051 (?)

You meant to say #053. Shin Okamoto has #031.
...and there is some connection to someone named Mark in Australia who owns a Ford dealership. He has two McLaren F1s, including the Lark GTR, if I understood it all correctly.
That would be Mark Coffey of Maranello Motorsport - a Ferrari dealership - who purchased the #13R LARK GTR from the ZAZ collection, but as Greg notes it has since moved on. At the time, Maranello Motorsports also had #16R, but as we all know that one ended up in mr bridger's garage. Mark has posted here in the past under the screen name coffeym.
Sounds like you had a wonderful trip (at least by my standards). Thanks for sharing the details - can't wait to see the pics.

Right, pics are up, but first things first.
Many thanks to my friend Bob, who managed to recover my CD. I had been using a friend's camera in Japan, so had transferred the pics in batches onto a CD. The internet cafe where I went to do this was always busy, so I ended up using their only available machine, a Mac. To me, the Mac is a retarded machine designed for retards. I always get stuck trying to do the simplest things, and this one was running some Japanese version of the Mac OS, so I had to guess my way through numerous dialog boxes...which meant that somehow I managed to really screw up the CD.
Imagine my dismay when, upon landing in the US and loading up my CD on my PC, only half of my precious pictures showed up, and they appeared to be corrupted as well! However my friend went into his company's data recovery lab on a Sunday and managed to get all the files back! What a relief! Something to do with sessions...grrr, whatever!
Many thanks also to tvrfreak for the hosting. Stellar job on getting everything sorted and generating the albums and transferring them up to the server so quickly. The pics have been resized to save on bandwidth and time. I will be loading up the hi-res ones later, when there is more disk space available. If you really want any of them in hi-res , please send a PM, although I can't promise anything because I will be traveling again soon.
Right, here are the pics...enjoy!

Apologies in advance for the poor quality pics...

I loved the new paint scheme on the GT. The lighting at ZAZ is very dim, so it's hard to make out some details, but the grey/black was simply beautiful, and the interior was very tastefully done as well. It was basically black with magnolia on the driver's seat. It looked kind of like a toy set with the F1 car next to it, in identical colors.
I read in Racing Line that they are very careful about how many microns thick the paint layer is that they put on the F1 car, in an effort to keep weight down. The sponsor logos, etc., are all painted on, they are not stickers. I wonder if the GT also had a very thin layer, as it probably was done in the same paint booth. I suspect it's applied in thicker layers on a road car though.

Le Man, yeah, he let me sit in the LM as a special favor so I didn't want to appear pushy. I sat there and just soaked in the experience...didn't want to be so busy clicking pictures that I didn't get to enjoy it. Wish I had taken more pics now, though. Same with all the beautiful temples I went to--I didn't take any pics at all and now I am regretting it. At least I got a couple of shots of Mt. Fuji...!!

Any ideas on this one? Seems to be a Jap guy driving it and the plate dimensions are consistent with those found on #013 and others on Japan's roads.

Most welcome, my pleasure. I just got back from my second big trip and I am still waiting on my friend to upgrade the disks and switch ISPs and move the servers over before I can upload the high res versions.

Another angle on what I would also agree is the car we believe to be #070:

I just found this very small pic of the F1 from the NEEZ stand at this years SIS at Tokyo!
http://img352.imageshack.us/img352/361/s175312scn9.th.jpg (http://img352.imageshack.us/my.php?image=s175312scn9.jpg)
As I think one could read a "70" on the plate, the car is most likely the same as this one:
http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=5479910&postcount=337
So the chances that it's really #070 are quite high...

Is chassis #013 set to make a comeback at BingoSports? It would appear to be so from this link:

That 'McLaren F1' arrives, the next few days.
Warehousing circumstance, you publish detailed contents for the second time.
You'll find that link on the BingoSports home page right now.
If indeed #013, it appears to have lost its stripes, but I think we knew that from some previous images. Also, it would appear that someone has added a video screen to the interior that was not there in any past images that I can recall.
Anyway - we should keep an eye out for more updates. :smokin:

Wow, full circle! In the images of #013 at Auto Salon the stripe was omitted, somewhere between being for sale in Exeter and appearing in Germany [the MD of the Exeter showroom was mulling over taking off the stripe to make it more saleable ]
It also didn't have the screen in the interior when I sat in it [loving the remote control though :)]
