Question Alclad II over Tamiya Primer and Tamiya Synthetic Laquer?

I was wondering if it would be safe to apply Alclad II paints over Tamiya primers and their canned spray paints or would I have to use "true" laquer based paints as a base. Thanks.

for aluminium high polished and chrom you need a enamel base (gloss black !!!!!!) !!!!!! if not alclad II can damage the plastic !!! for all the other alclad II paints you must use acryl primer !!!

It's definitely safe to apply Alclad over Tamiya primer or synthetic lacquers, note like TheSaint said you need to apply Alclad Chrome over a glossy black enamel surface, and Alclad Polished Aluminum over a glossy black acrylic surface.

Quote from Alclad2.com

Apply one of these primers before using Regular ALCLAD:
Tamiya Plastic Primers-white or grey
Auto Primer-white or grey
Future/Klear -floor sealer/polish

Plastic primers and auto primers should be lightly polished with 1000/1200 wet & dry paper to give a less absorbent glossy surface .

ALCLAD High Shine -Chrome and Polished Aluminium both require a dark glossy base. Polished Aluminium should be used over Tamiya TS-14 gloss black,or gloss black auto paint. Chrome and only chrome should be used over gloss black model enamel paint.

It actually tells you on the bottle what type of base the Alclad2 should be sprayed over, like the TS-14 and gloss black enamel, just read the instructions on the bottle when/before you buy it to see what is required.
You could also look on www.alclad2.com like was mentioned above, they give instructions and tips on their site.

I sprayed it over TS14 on my exhaust tips before the TS14 dried and it worked great!

It won't work over acryllics....
Alclad recommend using Testors gloss black enamel, which is what I used and it works great.

Oh and just a note, on their newer bottles they tell you to use "Alclad Primer" and "Alclad Black", disregard this you can just use the above stated primers and black

I used Alclad over Tamiya Spray, and it was safe to use. Tamiya spray is lacquer based acrylic. It should be alright over Mr. Color and Mr. Spray, also.
