tire questions for s13

yes, here we go, a couple questions about rims & tires but i need to know if these will fit.

17x7 +40 offset rims
215/45/17 front tires
225/45/17 rear tires

do i need spacers or should this fit? i think it will fit...

here is some info that should help you...

rim width-----suggested offset

6"---------- +54 or lower

6.5"-------- +45 or lower

7"----------- +40 or lower

7.5" ----------+34 or lower

8" -----------+30 or lower

8.5"---------- +24 or lower

9" -----------+20 or lower

so yeah, 7 inch with +40 offset will be fine. If you drive an S14, that would actually put the rear wheel almost flush with the side of the rear fender. it would be a good offset

actually a 17*7 rim is just as flush as the stock one. The stock one is 6.5 inches wide I believe and 40 offset. They will look the same, except the backspacing on yours will be a half inch deeper making it harder to clear coilovers........

-----------------------
***************************|
***************************| <----------Hub
***************************| ****************|
***************************|
***************************|
-----------------------
Say this is a 40mm offset 7" tire

YOu will need a spacer to get it flush with a high offset. With a lower offset you are having less backspacing and and more 'lip'.

This would be a wheel with lower offset

-----------------------
********************|
********************| <----------Hub
********************| ---------->Fender lip
********************|
********************|
********************|
-----------------------

It does not really matter how wide the wheel is.... it matters on your offset the most to get it flush on 240's. Offset changes the mounting spot of the lug nuts....it sinks them into the wheel on lower offsets and give is a lip that sticks out...... this pushes the wheel out and gives it a flush look..... real wide rims and low offsets some people need fender flares, rolled fenders, or new wide fenders because the lip sticks out too far.

ok, ill prolly get them installed today, if not today monday. i'll let you know how these fit.

the coilovers will go on at the end of the week... thats what im worried about. people clear 215/40 +34 fine but i have 215/45 +40... i think it should fit OK. i heard people already put 225 on front and 245 on back with a lil room still. i'll c....

7's should fit no matter what offset...... it also matters what kinda tire you use as well........ if u have one too fat for the wheel and it hangs over the wheel it might rub the coilovers..... u should be fine with 215's...... don't quote me though hehe

great day! ...they fit

these really make the look of the car, ...they look much better in person, i have to get a better digicam.

next step will be to clear the coilovers, im almost positive i can drop this 2" in front and 1.5" in back, the coilover set and tokico struts i have are a lot smaller than the oem parts.

great tires by the way, their AA traction rating is awesome. i can rev this car and they really take off with them. THEY DON'T SPIN AT ALL, they just take off.

i can't even smoke my tires anymore... they are so sticky.

the rims are sweeet.... adr concept pro 17" gunmetal with polished lip.

17"x7" +40 means..

17" diameter
7" width of rim - must match with tire rim width accepted. the biggest tires you can get with 7" is 225. if you want 235 or 245 you need 7.5" or 8".
+40 is offset. this is how far away (i think in milometers?) the rim lugs on to the lugs of the car. these look good on my car, are just about flush with the side of the body.

when you put coilovers on this drops the body of the car... and you have to avoid rubbing the tires against the body. 2" is prolly the maxi can go in the front.

also here is a neat guide for computing tire sizes

where are you fly? we should get together and run sometime... what kinda car you got again?

yea not to rag or anything but these things kill sumitomos, they are oem tires on all the new ferraris. they went for $148/ea for front and $168/ea for rear at conrad's, i think they're worth it tho because they are supposed to last a long time (at least i hope so....)
:bandit:

go check them out at tirerack

also they are z speed rated.. not that i need them since i never go above 100 ;-)
