OEM exhaust mandrel bent ???
OK, this one has got me. 3rd or so time I have been in discussions with others and I stated the OEM is crush not mandrel. If I am wrong, I will admit it. If not, then good for me!
I just had a custum exhaust put on my P10 a few months ago and I still have the factory P10 cat-back piping. It looks like crush bends to me. Not the kinda crush bends you see at Midas, but it sure as hell doesn't look mandrel. Question: Which of the following have OEM mandrel bent piping? '91-'94 SE-R '91-'96 G20 '99-'02 G20 '95-'9x 200SX SE-R '9x-'9x 200SX SE blah blah blah Or do all of the above have a manufactured crush bend exhaust?

I believe it is a crush bent exhaust because the bends are not the same size as the straight parts. I thought that mandrel bends would mean that the piping has exactly the same inner diameter all the way. is that right?
I also don't believe any of those cars have mandrel bent piping from the factory.

Thanks guys. This is why I knew they were crush and not mandrel.
I just had a custom Borla exhaust installed on my '96 G20 a few months ago, I use to own a '91 NX2000 and had a Borla rear section with custom 2" cat-back pipe, my wife had a '91 Sentra SE and I had to replace the rear section with OEM exhaust and muffler when it rusted away and I also saw a fellow SR20DEForum members OEM exhaust (JACEN99SE) sitting in his garage from his '99 Sentra SE after he had a Courtesy midpipe and custom rear section installed. All of the above Nissan/Infiniti's do have crush bent OEM exhausts directly from the manufacturer. As well as my '81 Toyota Corolla 1.8 SR-5 Hardtop Sport Coupe (My first car back in '88. Wish I still had that one.) and my '84.5 Ford Escort Hatchback (2nd car) and my '87 Nissan Sentra SE (3rd car) SoI figured I wasn't talking outta my other orafice.

I have a custom crush bent exhaust in my car now. I thought it was funny how when they were doing it they kept telling me that it was 'just as good' as mandrel. The guy would run up to me after he bent the pipe, "Look, look. Nice bend right?" I was like, whatever!
I'd rather have mandrel bends but it's hard to find a mandrel bender and secondly the cost of welding together mandrel peices is quite a bit more. I knew I was going turbo on this car so I kind of cheaped out a bit on the exhaust. When I go turbo I'll be getting the full tits 3" mandrel SS exhaust. ![]()
