A little B16 Buildup

I've recently aquired a B16a and i was wanting a little advice and opinions on what i should buy and what companies are the best. I bought the engine from my brother who has already purchased a Skunk2 intake manifold, a DC sports header, MSD cap and coil.. and i believe that is all. It's already torn down in my garage and I decided it would be better to buy all the parts for the bottom end and everything before I put it back together. I want to build it up for turbo.. i'm not sure how much boost i want to run yet, but it will be a daily driver so not too much.. i don't need to spend alot of money on an engine and push it too far so it breaks on me. I wanted to bore it and sleeve it, put lower compression pistons and such on it. but i really am just looking for advice on what i should do and what companies make better parts (which is largely a matter of opinion with most people) thanks for all your help

it kinda depends on how much boost u wanna run. and how much to u have to spend. u could buy like a jg built block for like 4500, which can handle supposedly around 35 psi of boost. so i dont think u would really have to worry about blowing up that block.

if not then, i say knife edge the crank, resleeve it, new rods and pistons, deck the block, arp bolts throughout the engine. with the head get new complete valvetrain, springs, valves, retainers, etc. p&p the head, dont forget the cam with the valvetrain to match the lift of the cam

that should handle kinda high boost maybe like 15 psi, but i always like to be safe then sorry so i would put it a few psi less. but if your only gonna run like 10psi, then that block will handle fine

Do a compression test and if it is good you can boost up to around 10 PSI on the stock motor. If you want to bore it over and all that good stuf, just sell it and get a 1.8 instead. With a B18B you will save money because they are cheaper and all ready run a lower CR.But if you want to stick with a vtec,I would since it is a better engine(better r/s,head flows better),sleeveing and boring can get real expensive($1000),then pistons, rods, all those parts can easily run you close to another grand. Not to mention you need to invest in a new valve train and cams,to handle the high revs that anything over one bar of boost is going to want you to rev to.And don't forget about your fuel/ingition system.I'd say stick to a lower boost on the stock interals, dyno tune it and smoke the hell out of alot of people.

you guys are thinkin low compression ratios to save money but not as much speed i would keep or higher the compression and dont turbo and like someone was talkin if you re-built that block it would handle more then 15 PSI or you could also buy a dart and payne technologies block a B18 for 2,000 that will handle alot of boost and up to like 550 HP
