Audi Quattro Coupe

This is my next project.

It's the Audi Quattro Coupe from Tamiya.

It's an old kit with not much detail (except from the driver )
but I try to make it look good.

Of course I'm not going to use the original wheels.

I think these will look great on it.

The yellow rings are separate, and I painted them chrome a couple months ago. The spokes are not painted yet, but I think I'll paint them gloss black.

I'm also thinking about 2 rallye seats for the interior.

The colour will be silver I think. That will look great with black/chrome wheels

Kris.

Re: Audi Quattro Coupe

First impression on seeing the box art is that it's ugly and not my taste, but seeing a few shots of the actual body with those wheels, I'm really interested to see how this progresses. Oh, and that driver looks like a midget!

Re: Audi Quattro Coupe

Yesterday I painted the body in Gloss Aluminium.

The hood is a separate part because it has an engine under it. I painted it also in bodycolour but the hood falled on the ground :S
I also have no more paint of this colour so I decided to paint it black. That will look hot with the rims in the same colour

Today I added some decals.

Hope to clearcoat it tomorrow.

Kris.

Re: Audi Quattro Coupe

Do you have carbon fiber decals? It might be cool to carbon the hood, since you painted it black. The model looks great. I love those Audi logos on the side and the stance, while a bit lower than I would make it myself, is really nice. I've always liked these old hatches (Quattro, Scirocco, 944, etc.)

Re: Audi Quattro Coupe

Carbon hood should look great, but it will be build in a German look. So no carbon on the hood but only black.

The stance is just because the wheels where a dryfit under the car. I just started with the chassis

Re: Audi Quattro Coupe

I clearcoated the body last week and also painted the wheels:

I hope to polish it this weekend or next week.

I also started on the interior. This will be brown and black.

Re: Audi Quattro Coupe

Hmm not interesting I think?

Alright I worked further today on the Audi and I finished the interior, chassis and engine.

First the interior.
I used black and brown for the colours and some chrome and aluminium for some details.
The carpet is black embossing powder instead of interiorflocking.

The chassis.

I lowered the suspension a little bit and modified the rims to fit on the suspension.
The exhaust ends are too small, so I made some new ones from a aluminium tube and polished them.

After all I wheaterd the whole chassis.

And the engine.
I kept it pretty much basic, no extra detailing, just added some colour on it.

The body is nearly finished. I have some already painted parts ready for assemble, so I only have to put it on the body.

Tomorrow I'll finish it.

Kris.

Re: Audi Quattro Coupe

not interesting!? humm...not to me.

no doubt only ferraris are in my blood now, cars from this era represents the peak of the best turbo lag monsters! you know the R5 gordini, lancia 037, 206GT, stratos & this one...

i never expected this kit to be so 'complete' from the looks of it (yes, ugly box), but now i may wanna take a break & get one to build!

if i do, there's another version of this quattro...a white monster & all wheel arches buldged, smaller headlights & much wider! that's the one monster i wanna build / mod!

you know the name for that audi monster i'm referring to?

cheers!

Re: Audi Quattro Coupe

Looks great to me, a similar execution to what I've planned out for whenever I build mine; though I may steal someone else's idea and stuff the Audi R8 engine in it (replace R8 engine w/Revell R10 TDI...).

Look forward to seeing it done
