Scared about war?

Well, this kinda is more aimed at Americans overall, but it applies to everyone for the most part. Well, first of all, i'd like to say that I am scared. I am scared of the war that may begin between the US and Iraq. I am afraid for my family and friends that could die because of more terror attacks. I am afraid of the media, who are telling us about future smallpox attacks and such. I am afraid that if we do go to war, it will turn into a world war, and then begin a nuclear war. The truth is, I am only a small bit into my life, and I am just afraid of dying young. I don't want to die at 15. Its not fair that i have to feel this way. I just don't see why we all can't just get along. How do you guys (everyone) feel about how the earth stands in this present time?

Without getting into my *ambitious* Political ramblings, I'm scared, too. I hate the idea of the U.S. being the leader in World War III. That's just horrible. And like the saying goes: World War III will be fought with a Nuclear arsenal. World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones. :o

Sure, no one cares about the fact that it's MY generation going off to a war that no one supports. How many people DID NOT WANT ANYTHING to do with Vietnam??? Can't they see how similar this all is? It's a war that everyone knows will be the end of the world.

I am scared out of my mind.

i'm most afraid that when/if this war is fought, it won't be a foreign war, it'll happen here in the US. We'll see that we aren't untouchable because of distance, and most people won't be willing to accept that... it's gonna suck...

I am deeply disturbed by the prospect of war.I don't see New Zealand getting involved at this stage,or becoming a target for terrorism, but the potential for the U.S. to drag us all into a major conflict between two cultures is ,to say the least, daunting.Bombs and tanks do not change attitudes, they only harden them.Frankly I don't care about who did what to whom and why,but I believe that the terror attacks of Sept 11th should have been seen as a lesson in the horrors of war, rather than an invitation to start an even bigger one.The U.S. mainland has so far escaped relatively lightly in times of war,but I can't see that being the case if George Bush makes a unilateral stand in the Middle East.

Some seem to believe that this conflict will somehow lead to WWIII. I just don't see that happening. Well, it'll be like WWI I thnk. At the beginning of the war, it wasn't known as a World War, but then the US got involved and so it started. Same with the Second World War...it was mainly Europe but then Japan and the US came. I can see this happening. This time, I somehow don't see the US ending and if they do, it won't be like the others. I do not however fear the war. If it breaks loose, fine. Let it be...the time was coming sometime sooner. I wish it didn't happen but whatever. It is possible that the US could end this rather fast, but we won't. The oil is far to precious. Yes, the oil...

I think its dumb, that many other places that have terrorism just shrug it off and go on with there lives. But as soon as it happens to the US, the people that did it have to be stopped. Everyone else just deals with it. I disagree with EVERYONE in the US. They all think the US is so damn badass and good. But the truth is, we aren't. Its like our nation thinks they are better than everyone else, but we aren't. Everyone is equal, and nobody sees tht. I guess we could be the world's police, but why can't another country do that? When i turn 18, i want to get my ass out of here and move to NZ, Canada, or Austrailia. That will let me get away from all this bullshit. Thank you all for sharing your opinions, it makes me feel so much better that there are people who are scared like me. We are all in this together, and if its our time to go, so be it. Thank you all.

I totally agree. Almost everyone I know is freaking out about this b/c they think its WWIII and the world is gonna come to an end. I just keep telling them just b/c the word "war" is being used doesn't mean "world war". Look at all the wars in the past: Civil War, Revolutionary War, Vietnam War, etc. I'm not saying I'm not worried about the war, b/c it is scary. Everyone thinks that Bush and Saddam need to meet and Saddam has said he wants to have a debate....to me it wouldn't solve or fix anything b/c Saddam cannot be trusted. IMO though I think N. Korea may be a bigger threat at this point due to the fact that they kicked out the U.N. officials(seems like they have something to hide by doing this). Hopefully everything goes better than expected. Oh well, this post has been a little long but I just thought I'd state my opinion.

No. I am not afraid of war with Iraq... Actually, I think that the real threat lies in North Korea. We've had problems with them in the past as we've had with Iraq, but I think N Korea is more of a threat.

except we've occupied north korea for ... a long time now. and if anything starts it will be over in, literally, minutes. in that case, most people don't think that china would back them either... so, they're in a pickle if they really try to do something.

Well Ryan you said when your 18 you are leaving this country? and you disagree with all Americans? I say go for it because speaking for myself and tens of thousands of other former/current military I think you need to grow up or get out. Anyone who is not afriad of war is a idiot in my opinion and should be avoided. This war will happen but when is up to the powers that be. I've been saying this for years that a major conflict is going to take place not to long after the turn of the century. I understand everyone has their own opinions but they should base them on something tangible not lunitic ravings or rantings. School kids marching against war? Where do they get those ideas? At early ages parents whine and moan about things and then the kids take those views without having the oppertunity to form their own ideas. How do my 3 kids feel? I'll bet they feel the same way as I do because I am normally outspoken however I do tell them to learn why I feel the way I do before taking my side and I always welcome them to debate my views. When they just say they "feel that way" without having anything to base it on then time spent debating them would be worthless. I've found that the majority of school age kids these days have no manners or respect for anyone else or anyone elses property regardless of where they live, race, financial means etc. The kids that I hope to see as future leaders of our country are the ones that get involved in their communities, inlist in the military, stay in school and off of drugs. To those I tip my hat. When I see local car clubs passing thru my small town they usually have young members. These are kids that have built/purchased their own cars and not kids that Mom or Dad has bought everything for them. Hmm well excuse the length of this reply. Sometimes kids just get under my skin. :P

Yes, I am afraid of war, but as stated earlier by another, anyone who is not is disturbed himself/herself. I may not want the war to occur, but if this is the way it is meant to be, it is the way it is meant to be. If God should have me die at the hands of those I do not know, then that's how it goes. I turn 18 in september, and am scared to death of the re-inactment of the draft, which some say may or may not happen. Should I be drafted to serve my country in times of war, I will make sure that anyone and everyone I have ever cared about knows as much, and knows how much I will always love them, because you can never guarantee coming home from such a thing as a war. But as I said, If I must fight for this country through means of being inlisted by the Government, that is my fate and I will embrace it.

Chances of the draft being reinstated are slim to none. We have more then ample military personnel currently. I've never met a soldier who wanted to go to war. Most want to be soldiers to deter war. Lets just pray it doesn't come to that. However my gut instincts tell me we will. God Bless those men and woman.

I'm glad I live in a country were we do think 9/11 is a big deal and we don't just get over it and accept it as part of everyday. I'm glad we choose to fight terrorists instead of taking thier shit like other countries. I don't want to live somewhere were a terrorist bombing is just what happens and is acceptable.
As for WWIII I think you all have your imagination going to much. Maybe if Saddam was lucky he could get a Vietnam out of it. Where do you honestly think a WW will come from? I just don't get what you people are thinking.
I don't think we should be going to war right now with Iraq there is no need. I agree N. Korea is a much scarier and real threat.
