Anyone scared about the Enzo Ferrari?

meaning..... All carbon fiber moncoque... the insane amount of carbon fibre in that kit...

the tamiya site shows it as being painted and it looks fantastic.

I think Tamiya will just call out X-18 in the instructions, you'll have to add carbon fiber decals or spray it through mesh.

We're buying the Ferrari for that big, 6 liter V-12 high-revving engine and all the F-1 technology they cram into that body

I hope they include the mesh! I don't really want to spend alot on carbon fiber decals!

You're right about all the carbon fiber.. I don't remember what parts of it are CF, but I think the best finish would come from using black then spray over it with a mesh.

The mesh comes included with a lot of rally car kits, and some bike kits too

These are the kits I have that have the correct sized mesh (note some mesh they include is too large, like the one for the Skyline R33 kit)

Mitsu. LanEvo VI WRC, Suzuki Telefonica RGV, Yamaha YZF-R1, Mercedes CLK-DTM

I'm sure there are many other kits with the mesh. It's a bit small though, I'd say about 2-3 inch by 2-3 inch square.

I think Scale Motorsport is preparing for another collaboration project with Tamiya and release a super detail kit. The price of the super detail kit will scare me more than the complexity of the Tamiya kit.

I might wait a little while before I get mine. Two reasons:
1) Got too many projects at the moment.
2) The kit's price tag seems to go down after a few months, (or years )

But I can't wait to see people doing buildups of their Enzo kit here on AF (wink wink, nudge nudge, hint hint ).

Yes, they are, and even if you don't want to buy it or carbon fiber decal for the chassis, it is molded with the woven look finish so that it will still have the effect.

But if you paint the chassis, then you cant see it again

What do you mean? Does it come pre painted..or are the carbon fiber lines molded in raised plastic? If it's the second, then you could easily spray it semi gloss black and dry brush the metallic grey..

The Tamiya 1/12 Williams has the same look. It's not a "woven" look but more like a "textured" look. If I can bring myself to tear the plastic wrapping from the kit I'll post a few pics. I don't think it'll show very well through the plastic.

I have a feeling I'm gonna get a few of those babies.
