GST and Neon SRT-4

I was jus wonderin, i kno that a Dodge Neon SRT-4 can beat a GST, but y did the People who made the SRT4 so strong and light weight???
The GST is heavier and nearly has the same HP with the SRT4, it also has the Front-wheel-drive??? I dont get these ppl who makes these kind of cars, does that mean that imports are better than domestics, because its all in the weight!!

SRT-4 supposedly does 14's... so it would definitely be faster than the gs-t

Don't forget it is a 2.4 with a 16g. that makes a big difference

i'm not quite sure what the point of the thread is here... not a surprise...

keep in mind that the neon has considerably more tq than the eclipse.

and it's got more displacement. they're not related at all.
completely different cars that don't have much to do with each other.

the neon, which weighs less and has more power is newer as well, so the designers are aware of what's on the market, so they can be at least competive or better.

that's like asking why the new mustangs are faster than the older ones... or why hp numbers keep going up...

why do you think?

you can't just base it on newer is better though, because that's like saying a 2003 Toyota Tercel is better than a 92 Mustang 5.0 because it's newer and the designers knew what's out there... It being new has no relevency what-so-ever to how powerful it is, because technically, these days cars are being made less powerful than they were back in the day. The SRT-4 is much faster than an Eclipse GS, basically because the car was made for speed.

i wasn't basing it on being newer.

i'm referring to cars in a segment, which is quite clear.

the gst and srt4 are in the same segment of the market, and since the gst has been around, neon developers have had a chance to see what else is on the market, and build from that knowledge.

obviously the tercel vs. mustang thing is pointless, but i never made that analogy.

but that's technically what it is. Manufacturers dont really have to look at what others have done to make there own. I think the srt-4 isn't based off of any other sports car than itself, but with a performance engine and other performence parts.

Either way, if you think about it, the SRT-4 and Eclipse aren't really competitors in a way... Think about it like this... Chrysler bought rights from Mitsubishi to make their own eclipse for Eagle, called the Talon, and under Chrysler is Plymoth, Eagle, and Dodge... under a certain chain of things they are linked.... I dunno why i brought it up, i'm bored... leave me alone....

i know what you're saying, but the cars are in the same segment, not necessarily related.

so... as a dodge guy, you'd say, "hey, what would we run into on the street"..

answer, eclipse gst...

so put that on the opponents list... think of ways to be better than cars in your segment, which the eclipse is...

if you've got a mustang to design, you look at the camaro and firebird to see what they've got, and how to compete... same idea..
