d series and turbo help?!?

anyone seen d16y8's post big numbers with turbo? if so what kind of modifications were done and what type of turbo was used. i am trying to decide if i want to turbo my motor, buy a core to rebuild then turbo, or take another route. any insight would be great

i've got 142,000 on the odometer right now...after i take care of some things out my income tax and get my bonus i should have around 1500-2000 im looking at turbo D or b18b or b20b for turbo. how safe would a turbo on 150,000 mile d be?

You would be a lot better off and safer to start with a fresher engine or rebuild your current one.

I agree. Get a new clutch too, uless you've replaced it lately. Also, if you're making any good power, you're stocker will get eaten up fairly fast if you race a lot.

mainly street...will see some track time. plan on 5-6 psi daily and a little more for race..

That's cool, but I think eventually your mileage will come into play. Might be safe to do a minor rebuild - gaskets, bearings, water pump, oil pump. It's like jumping on the shoulders of your 80 year old grandma - you never know how much she can take and then she dies on you.

after talking to one of the car guys i work with. i've decided to pay the car off before i do anything....still owe 5600 gonna try and pay it off by this time next year. and then i'm gonna do a d-series build. gonna get a new block, sleeve it put some rods and pistons in it, a good turbo cam and the boost the heck out of it.....

I've seen a fully built d16y8 that was putting out 250-275 hp. But pay off your car first.

yeah...definately gonna pay it off first....230 a month comes in handy when stuff breaks. 250-275 whp. awesome...how built was it? what kind of boost was he running? i want big boost....15+ for racing. around 6 for daily driving. any recommendations on turbo, internals and junk. who makes good turbo cams? definately gonna run the hondata 4b......
