'99 cougar gas problem....
i just got home with my dad from helping my bro with his '99 cougar, it stalled on him on the interstate and so me and my dad went and towed him to a gas station and put $13(USD) in it and it worked fine then, anyways my bro says that the gage said there was 40 miles of gas left and then just went to 0 in a matter of like 2 miles, and after we put gas in it, it ran fine and me n my bro drove it around up n down the interstate and a 45 mph road (but my bro was going like 80mph :P.) it worked fine but when we left the gas station the gas gage read 320 and by time we got back it read only 302 and we had only gone like 3 or 4 miles, and we didnt see any leakage anywhere so i was just wonderin wtf could be wrong

I would check the fuel pump, the injecters, fuel filter connections and all of the other fuel connections.

a suggestion
On the 99 cougars there is a fuell pump reset switch located somewhere the floor side panel (refer to your owners manual) sometimes if you make a sudden stop or brake to hard, the fuel pump partially shuts down for safety reasons (like car accident). might work.
