Tamiya Honda RA 273 1/12

well well my second post :-)

That's my latest kit..allready a year old. The detail is very basic but nevertheless a nice kit. I used my lathe on this kit the first time, to make shocks, dial surrounds and some other small parts. The complete suspension is made from metal.

-Seat is MFH leather,
-the windscreen is vacuformed.
-All rivets where drilled out and replaced with the real hing
-used many real screws and nuts on the engine
-tire valves added

and yes the engine is the wrong color...creative freedom ;-)

enjoy the pictures

the mainbody is a simple turned piece made from the kits measuremnts. the mounts had to be handmade, with a drill and file ...really need a mill and learn how to use it

That's some really fine detailing. It's all the extra effort put in that makes the racer look quite realistic. I like the 5th photo in particular, that's a lot of work in there! Awesome!

You are one sick puppy... :O:O That much detail on such tiny scale ./bow ./worship.

What was the estimated building time for it and why did you choose this model to do extensive fabulous detailing on?

(and more of these kind of models/pics please, it must inspire a lot of us besides scaring the shit out of us :P)

I think this is a beautiful car and even more beautiful model. The detailing is sublime. The suspension is amazing. I'm not too familiar with this type of race car, but you say the engine is the wrong colour. What colour is it supposed to be? I love that exhaust system too, you sure have great skills.

Re: Tamiya Honda Ra 273 1/12

ups..my fault..the engine color ist corrects but the exhaust is meant to be white, but I just didn't like that

@Whishmaster: I would guess around 6 months. I choose that model because it was one of the "simpler" 1/12 kits. It was actually my second 1/12 and my 6th or 7th kit.
When I inspected the box it looked very detailed and jumped right at it, but detail is very low on that kit but then it was too late and I was going.

Here's a pictures of the final assemblies...while forcing the nose to fit to the rest I roke the whole front suspension off, including wheels, wiring and erverythin...luckily the paintjob survived and the rest could be fixed
