Talking Getting the G20 to 200 hp

Hey G-20 drivers,
I really don't know much about upgrading my car's engine, but i was wondering how i could get my 140 hp G20 up to 200 hp as cheap and easy as possible. If you could cite some parts and prices that would be helpful. (I'm trying to keep it under $1500).

Cheap? if you wanted to get 60 cheap horsepower I wouldn't have gotten a G20. There is the usual stuff, ECU, Cams, pulleys. But the real power is in the turbos. For ECU's, there is the Jim wolf technology ECU, and JUN makes one for the G20 also. for Cams, Jim Wolf technology, and JUN makes cams. But like I said, you want real power, go with a Turbo. F-max, Hotshot, and Jim Wolf all make turbo's. There's also the SR20DET engine if you got the cash

To get another 60bhp is going to take a lot more then $1500.00

You best bet would be to turbo it, the same as Luke done here to his.
He changed engines instead of up dating the one all ready in it

Well, you might be able to find a DET for under $2000 But it all depends on the condition of the engine. Also, they usually don't come with ECU, tranny, wiring harnesses, etc. About the Venom 400. I wouldn't do it unless you have more engine mods. 25% is alot of HP Gain, but without doing anything else to the engine, I duno how effective it would be. Plus, I don't think they make it for the G20

That's not enough money to get you to 200 bhp.

I know because I've done it twice. Once turbo, once NA.

The cheapest way is to go turbo. You can either add a turbo or drop in an SR20DET. The overall cost will be pretty much the same by the time you're done. Adding the turbo will be a little cheaper, but if you sell your old engine it will be about the same. Plan on spending about $2,500-3,500.

If you attempt to do this normally aspirated, you can expect to spend about $6,000. That is how much my NA engine ran including all the mods except the header. Add another $425 for that.

Yes, that is correct.

The intake points towards the front of the car and the exhaust header is between the engine and the firewall.

The head work alone was $2,200 including the valve springs. I spent about $160 on coatings for the pistons and $200 for coating the header. Gaskets and seals alone were $165. Bearings were around $200. The miscellaneous stuff was in the hundreds. Flywheel was $360 on a group deal. Clutch and pressure plate were over $200. It all adds up.

Yes, that should be possible - especially with dyno tuning.

If you could get JWT C series cams with the JWT valve springs, you should be able to get another 10 bhp if you get adjustable cam gears as well.

You don't have a roller rocker engine do you? If you do, you can't use most of the cams that are out there. They must be designed for a roller rocker engine.

My pleasure. I knew they were working on roller rocker cams, but I didn't know how soon they'd be out.

The HS header should be worth about 12-16 hp. The pulleys, about 3-6 hp if I remember correctly. No idea what the cams will be worth, but if I had to guess (knowing how JWT actually develops their cams), I'd guess in the 12-18 hp range.

By the way, I thought you would like to know that typing in all capital letters (upper case) on the internet is considered shouting.
