Get car to 200 hp....suggestions
Hey All,
I own a stock 1996 Eclipse RS. (5-Speed) I would like to add parts to get it up to at least 200hp. Can you guys give me some ideas of what I should add to get me there? And please no "Get a GSX". I plan on adding a Cat-back, and cool air intake. What else can I add to make it fly? Thanks in Advance. Ancker |

its seems kinda silly to take the lowest model eclipse and attempt to build it up when for prolly a slightly sum of money you could have a stock 210 hp eclipse. and even with the 200 hp the RS wont have near the torque of the turbo motor. you put dont say "Get a GSX" i wont. get a GST. save yourself some money

yo im in your boat... im most likely purchasing a 97 Eclipse RS over the weekend, i was told just throw a turbo on it and you will get some speed outta it. how much horsepower do the RS's come with stock???

with the extra your gunna spend on putting a turbo on it, and with the added reliablity of a stock turbo it doesnt make sense to spend less on the RS and then make it into a GST. and you cant exactly just slap a turbo in. im sure they put alot stronger internals in the turbo motors anyway so your kinda pokin shit in the woods. im not saying you cant do it, its just when you say cost is a factor but then your talking about spending a couple grand on having a turbo installed, you coulda put that into the extra cost of the GST plus you get a nicer interior. just doesnt make sense, maybe im crazy.

Why dont you just get a turbo from a GST or GSX? that'll make you "fly"

alright i was looking at eclipses on a dealership lot.... found a 98 GS $15,000 a lot of extra's. i also looked at the GST's they were going for about $24,000. its a lot cheaper to go with the GS's and just throw a turbo in them for like $2,000

yup, i found it cheaper not going with the gs-t. just upgrading the gs to a gs-t. im not sure how great the turbo kit is for it but its worth the $2,000 to try it out.

yeah, i've found them also for $16,000 but there privately sold. i dont trust privately sold cars. thats why im just getting the GS and throwing a turbo on it. the gs only has 25,000 miles on it and is selling for $12,000. which i think is a very very good deal for that car. its pretty much has power everything in it except seats. and it also comes with a 10 disk cd changer

damn they dont have them that cheap around here because the dealershi around me sells eclipses with less than 40,000 miles on them and the gs-t are all above $20,000. what state are you located in???
