Convence me to get a G20
Ok, i'm from the states, looking for a car. Tell me why i should get a g20.
right now i REALLY like the 3000gt twin turbo vr-4 because it's the closest thing to a skyline we get here in the states. i'm listening!!

if you want the closest thing to a skyline, get a G35. its coming out Fall 2002. its the so called "skyline sedan" here in the states. its going to be a damn monster, over 200 hp and i believe about 200 lbs of torque. but if interested in a G right now, IMO, i suggest getting a P11, which is a 99+ G20, since they look good. and if you want better wheels, get the G20T. it also comes with LSD.

VR4 is nice...too bad it'll be EXTREMELY hard to work on since of the stupid V6 that goes IN the car so many areas are hard to get to.
totally different cars you are comparing with though, the G20 vs. 3000GT so it'll be hard for me to convince you to get the G...but if $$$ is important, u can make a G20 (p10 or p11) very very capable with the amount of money u'll spend on buying a factory VR4. (99 being the newest 3000GT VR4..probably around $40K?)

Ick, IMO VR4's are big and too heavy. Get a 300zx TT or Supra TT instead.
Like Luke said you can't really compare the VR4 and G20, unless you want to mod the G20 like crazy.

the VR4 would COMPLETELY DESTROY the G35 with its eyes closed (if it had eyes) it goes 0-60 in about 5secs...the G35? at the fastest, 7sec which isnt slow but certainly aint fast.

so get a skyline
If you want one get one. Skylines are imported to the US by these guys.
http://www.motorex.net They are righthand drive. Also The G35 does NOT have the inline 6 ( RB26DETT ) that makes the Skyline what it is. It's going to have the V6 (VQ) |

ehhh....G's aren't all that great new. For the budjet minded enthusiast they're too expensive for what they give you IMO. With the cars out right now and what's coming in the future...think about it good luck eh!

It's a decision you have to make of course. But... my dad has a 300zxtt that I used to drive around quite a bit when i live with my parents. They are two totally different cars. His is big and bulky, turns ok, and goes like stink (mods on that car are insane) <- my birthday and christmas presents to him
I've had two G20's now, both P10s, and they've been anywhere from stock, to pretty well modded (where my current car sits now). I think the G20 is just a lot more fun to drive. It's smaller, turns much much better, isn't as fast in a straight line, but it's just a fun little tossable car. If that makes sense. The handling is what does it for me. and it's pretty quick (it's pretty well modded though too). I am really close to a 14 second 1/4 mile right now. Basically a good launch away. The Z I'd have to guess is somewhere in the mid 13's now, and that's with just a few simple bolt ons with stock boost. With the JWT ECU (and about 6psi more boost that goes with it) that car would be a rocket. Apples and Oranges...

Well, lemme tell you the reasons not to buy a Mitsu..
1)Questionable reliability (We've have two Mitsus, and they haven't been the greatest cars) 2) Hard to work on (they try to cram too much into a little space) 3) as my friend would say "I don't want no damn three diamonds" As for the G35 it is a Skyline GT sedan. We get a VQ35DE probably producing no less than 255hp and 240ft/lbs of torque. (this is the same engine in the 2002 I35, Maxima, Altima SE V6) My guess is that it is going to have the same engine numbers as the 350Z, given that they are going to be slotted in the same price range. FYI, the G35 is RWD.

Just remember, if you spring for the VR-4, you'll have to dress & act accordingly. First, realize the "styling" of the Mitsu is about as subtle as a Jumbo Jet crash. Maybe this is Lido's legacy (remember the Stealth.... the world's most misnamed car?).
Anyway, the "Japanese Camaro" is best accesorized with gold neckchains, perhaps a chest rug, and skin-tight disco shirts. You'll have to visit small-town casinos, play country music at high volume, force you wife to double-layer her makeup & then enter Tammy Faye Bakker look-a-like contests. If you still feel the need to pop for a Mitsu, get the ONLY VR-4 with any cred......the Group A Homologation Galant VR-4 !! |
