okay guys, you dont have to be a smart ass always, the guy asked a legit question.

to answer your question, yes you probably hit the rev limiter. Rev limiters are present on almost every car that uses an ECM/ECU. The DX is set at 6800, which will be slightly lower if the car is not warmed up.

hitting the rev limiter is when the car's rpm goes erratic and will bounce from 6800 down to about 6400 and back up. the rev limiter is in place to cause the engine from overspinning

Really? Thats funny, I like to read your posts so I can see what kind of BS you're trying to feed everyone this time around.. You're always making shit up. You're a liar. You had "$9,000" into the engine of your old starion and now you're working on this Civic? Dude, your Civic is like a $2500 in total investment at the point you have it now. You painted the interior and you got half a body kit on it thats not even painted. Wow, some build.

Dont forget a rev-limiter will not save your motor when over-revved from a down shift.

I use to love my rev-limiter....I'd sit in neutral and hold the gas down and just let it bounce off the rev-limiter like 5 or 6 times....reminds me of grand turismo when you hold it floored at the beginning of a race....but that was my old motor...its in another dx with like 200,000 miles on it now....dude wants to do a mpfi swap to it...HAHAHA//

:smoker2: HAHA. the best is hitting a rev limiter on a crotch rocket between gears. those things bounce so fast on & off the rev limiter.

the 91dx 5 speed has a rev limiter cause mine sure does, i think second gear is about 50 or so and first gear is 25 i think? If you redline 1st and do a powershift you can chirp into 2nd, its not healthy but soo much fun

My LX doesent have one, I tested it out on my road trip. Got the car up to 120, and the limiter is supposed to kick in at 115, so its all good.

My friends '00 S10 has one at 100 which sucks, we hit it all the time on the way to lunch
