Yes, there is a McLaren F1 1/24 resin kit!

... and it looks good and has an engine!!! And costs $90 plus shipping.

Take a look for yourself (there's actually another version as well )

Smart buns! The only reason I posted this is that quite a few ppl asked about the existence of an F1 1/24 kit. And like hell am I paying $90 for a kit (not yet anyway!!! )

There are available for some time now, at least I have seen a F1 in 1/24th before, that is. Although being a huge McLaren fan, $90 is just to much for me and, maybe it'll be forever, but I keep on waiting for a plastic one.

Yes, these have been out for a couple of years. There is also a Modelers kit that is the best but it is a curbside. The Profil 24 kit requires lots of parts trimming/clean up and makes a nice model with full engine. I have the Modelers short tail and long tail, and a Profil 24 Gulf(dark metallic blue version). The Modelers kits have long since been out of production but Studio 27 has a long and short tail as well.

I have the Gulf version, and it will be a while before I build it. With a lot of time and patience it will be a beautiful model, but each part requires a good amount of cleanup to remove mold lines and flashing. It has a lot more parts than many resin kits. It's the only real game in town, and if it weren't one of my all-time-favorite cars on the face of the earth I wouldn't put up with the amount of work it will require.

I probably shouldn't say this...

I got a great deal on my kit since it had been opened. It only cost me $65, so I can forgive some of the sanding and filing that I'll have to do on it. It's one of Profil 24's earlier kits, their newer models are better designed and executed.

Profil 24's is based on the Modeler's short-tailed F1 (basically a recasting of the body with several new components). It's not a bad kit, but its no S27 either. As for a plastic version, you've got a better chance of growing wings! ;-)>

P.S. Richard at RCS is a great guy and they are a fabulous place to roder from...and for a price reference, my S27 longtail was $127.00!
