New Project: Huyndai Accent WRC EVO3 - A.L.L Model 1/24 - Resin kit

Hi,

Since my C-Class DTM D2 is in, what I call, the final third part of it's completion, it's time to look for the next project. And this is it: They Huyndai Accent WRC EVO 3 in 1/24th. It's a resin kit made by A.L.L Model from the Czech Republik and distributed by Reji models from the same country. It is their first kit ever in 1/24 so what to expect was a bit of a surprise but since it's the only Accent WRC available in 1/24 I had no choice and went for it. 95 euros later and it was sitting on my desk. In this first report I'll just show you what you get. The plan is to keep you updated as much as pos, whenever I work on it. However, as you will see, it might take some time, giving the fact of the work that it'll need. Oh and of course, as a Belgian, I'll finish it in Freddy Loix colours. So here we go!!

The box

Inside the box
There's a plan! decal sheet! and all resin part are nicely packed in plastic bags, grouped by relevancy (wheels, interior, rollcage etc.)

Instruction sheet
Not much of instructions, 2 folded A4 with drawings but it looks more then OK to help the building.

Decal sheet
Although not completely 100% crisp on all items, the decals look very fine and very well centered. Looks promising.

Bodywork
The fitment of the body to the floorpan is not 100% accurate but doable. The bodywork itself will need a lot of attention. Airbubles are present - so putty and sandpaper stocks are refilled - as is a nasty line on the rearbumper, probably due to the production process. The pictures show that very good.

Parts
The rest of the part are, apart from resin flash, relatively ok with some very cool details. In some areas, as you can see on the seat, the resin is very thin, so care will need to be taken. Some example pics.

There are also PE parts for the smaller details and the windows are vacuform clear plastic but, and this is cool, some cut-out frames are provided to help with these.

Expect and update by the end of september at the latest.

What, no Merc badge?

Look forward to seeing this one. Had always believed Reji actually made it themselves.

Looks very interesting! I am still wondering why all resin kits need so much body prep before painting..

I know there is no 3 pointed star on this one, but it's not for me but for my brother in law. The Loix Mitsu I did last year, was also for him.

Actually I got a few of those in from the initial run of kits and the resin was clean. The modsl degenarate each time a new body is poured. I have a few comming int he next week or so and can only hope they have made a new mold for these. The Skoda is pretty cool also if you have not seen any of them yet.

Nice subject!

I m eagerly looking forward to see an actual resin-build-up.
Quite tempted to do them, but I ve got no experience whatsoever with them, so maybe your build up could convince me.

Oh, and very good luck!

WOW, the kit looks very promising. I like the way that they have box art as opposed to the plain cardboard box look. Can't wait to see this one.

Hey Guido,

I'm really looking forward to the progress on this specific model. I also have this model on my desk, but because of total lack of experience with resin (and a severe case of modelersblock), I haven't started working on it yet.

anyway, great to see someone building the Accent WRC, good luck

The Hyundai is a big improvement on previous Reji resin kits. The vents on the bonnet look to be somewhat undersized, perhaps a limitation of the molding technology used.

Good luck with it Guido, I am eagery looking forward to see how it builds. Guess you'll be doing Schwarz's car then?
