Question SOHC Vtec Question

Hey whats up all, I was just wondering if anyone has the d16z6 swap in their 4g civic? And if so did you use all the parts off the SOHC Vtec motor like Intake manifold, tranny, and ECU...???? I am going to be performing this swap in a afew months so I want to gather as much info as possible considering I'm doing it myself with a friend of mine. Thanks for all your help and input.
Jon

I'm going to be doing the D16y8 swap soon, which is almost identical to the z6 engine, but here's what I've learned so far:

Yep, you should be able to use all that stuff... P28 ECU, and you'll have to wire up for OBD1. Everything else should work, you'll need to get a VTEC controller or an RPM activated switch for the VTEC.

As far as the tranny goes, I would stick with a 4G Si tranny or a ZC tranny with an Si final drive.

I would also recommend purchasing a wiring harness from dropshop (www.thedropshop.tv). They cost $150 I think, but I hear it's very worthwhile, unless you wanna spend all your time cutting and splicing wiring...

I have the z6 in my hatch, i used everything from it.I however cut off and soldered all 50 or so wires from the ECU. If i had to do it again i would definetly use that plug and play wire harness from dropshop. $150 is SO cheap compared to the time i spent re-wiring the whole ECU...

the p28 ecu has a stock VTEC activation point. if you're going through the trouble of using the p28 ecu, you might as well use it to activate VTEC since it will change your fuel and ignition curves as well to compensate for the different cam lobes.
