Sohc Vtec head 2 A Non Vtec Block

:frog:
Ok all I was wondering if it is ok to swap out my non vtec head for a vtec head on my d16. I have a 99 civic Hatch and I have a guy that is willing to swap me out a head that is coming off his 97 EX(y8/vtec). I know it will bolt up but will I have a problem with the oil and water jackets?????? Will they match up to cool the engine correctly? Aslo the ECU I can still use my ECU right? One more thing exctaly what all whould I have to do to swap that out????

Thanks guys and gals

You are going to need his old ECU. Swapping the ECU should be easy, its under the panel by the right foot of the front seat passenger, but getting the wiring into the ECU from the VTEC Solenoid on the new head might be a project if you're not replacing the entire harness.

Unfortuanetly I don't know about the oil/water, hopefully a more knowledgable reader will find your post. Good luck.
