Recommendations on engine rebuild--D16A6

Hi all.......this is my first time posting here, (I have lurked a few times 'tho).

I have a couple of questions for the motorheads here; I'll try and be brief.
I've got a pretty nice '91 Civic Si hatch. The stock D16A6 is getting tired: 20+% leakage in two cylinders, using a bit of oil after 155K mi., etc. Everything is stock, except a cat-back exhaust thats nearly new. 'Just a daily driver, no race car or custom, (I've got my bikes for that).

Now the questions.

I have two other complete engines which I can rebuild and drop in:

#1 another D16A6.
#2 a D16A1 ('89 Teg)

The rebuild will be from "the bottom up", fresh bores, etc., I have a pretty well equipped shop and can do everything myself. I just want a solid running engine with minimal installation hassles, but a little more push never hurts!

My thoughts so far are to use the A6 block, +.50 over pistons from an '89 Teg (higher compression?), and pirate the head from the twin cam A1.
I guess what I'm trying to do is sort of bring the A6 up to ZC specs.

Will this work?
Is it worth the trouble?
What (OEM Honda) cams would be the best?

Anyone's thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Keith

first of all you should go post this in the 4th gen forum. i never looked in there yet. second dont ever come here to get technical info about your car. go to the 4th gen. the guys in here dont know what there talking about.

the d16a1 engine wont bolt in your car just in case you might be wondering if it would fit. i dont think its worth it to build it up, since your gonna be spending so much money, i would go out and buy a sohc vtec then build that one up. i would stay away from head swaping cause it has always caused problems in any engine. you could always go out and buy a zc, but i dont like the zc. if your gonna build up a motor then i saw either go b series or build a sohc vtec

i would stay away from the zc, you cant just go out and buy parts for the 86-89 integra and hope they will fit, because some parts wont. its just a hassle. and i am not being a jerk, if he posts in teh 4th gen forum about his 4th gen civic, hell get better responses. and your looking at about $2000 for a complete running b16 into your 4th gen if you do it yourself, $3000 if you take it to a shop
