Thermostat question!
ok, my car gets hot sometimes, well not really hot, it goes like 3/4 the way up the temp gauge but it stays in the normal range. My boss said that has happened to alot of his cars and he said he just takes out the thermostat and it will keep coolant running throughout the system constently and it will help cool it. Is this true??? he has done it to all of his cars and the temp gauge on his cars stay at 1/4 of it. my question is will taking it out work?

Temp
I wouldn't take your thermostat out. I would check and see if you fan kicks on. If the fan dosen't kick on than thats probally your problem. The thermostat keeps the car around a certain temperature where the car operates best. I believe Honda keeps their cars around 160 degrees. If you take the thermostat out than the car will take forever to warm up in the cold mornings.

dont take your thermostat out...just replace it if its broke...not like its expensive...let it idle for about 5 mins after the temp gauge is warm...and touch your upper rad hose, if its hot, then your thermostat is good and youve got other problems...which removing the thermostat will not fix

yea dont remove the thermo, the car runs at a specific temp for a reason, which i wont get into here, unless you want me too, anyway, an easy check for the thermo to be working, is wait till the car is at your normal temperature, then squeeze the upper rad hose, if its solid, then your thermo is good, if its mushy, then u need a new one, they cost about 5 bux. if it turns out good, check to see if you have enough coolant in the system, then check to see if the fan is working.
knock out the most likely problems first b4 you go in depth.
