whoooped a turbo si!

Its saturday night in Austin, Tx. This is the usual night for streetracing in austin. Im hanging out with my friends at the Chilles resturaunt on the corner of 183 and IH 35.

Just to let yall know it's mostle domestic's and muscle cars, no imports except for some supras!

Anyways were just sitting up their talking when we see this civic and hear the typical fart can exhaust, and then a high pitched blow off "ppssshhh" fly by the parking lot. Ive seen this guy before and I have been wanting to race him for a while.

Well as soon as he flew by I got in the vette and fired her up and took off after him. I guess he saw me coming because he slowed down so we could both catch a light. Sure enough we both caught a red light. It just turned red so I rolled down my window and asked him what he had.

He said "Exhaust, intake, fuel regulator, and $$$Turbo"

He asked "what do you have?" I told him, "One big azz cam in a 350"

So i revved to about 2500 for the torque convertor, and he was revving as well. When the light turned green he tore out their and i eased on the gas so i wouldn't kick it sideways. At the end of first he was 1 car in front of me, i shifted to second and the rubber screached as my b&m shift kit did its part and i pulled even in the middle of second, when i shifted to third it was over. That big azz cam was doing its part, i shut it down at 100 and i was a good 4 cars ahead of him.

After the race we pulled back into chilles, and we talked it over. I was cool with the guy since he did hang with me. Its not every day that you see a civic on a 350+hp vette's ass.

All in All It was a worthy midnight snack:licker:

just a cam gave you 350hp?

seems like you led him on a bit... shift kits and tq converters usually mean more than a cam... oh well... nice kill...

i must admit tho, that i give more props to the civic, b/c he hung in there... just me tho

"One big azz cam in a 350"

That means he has a racing cam in a 350 chevy smallblock, in other words 350 cu in of displacement, and it also has 350 hp.

I'm just glad to hear he had the balls to race a vette. Most civic drivers wouldn't go for it.

on the quote about the "fastest fwd cars running 8s and your car runs 10s"

damn dude.

that's like saying that, "well, the fastest rwd cars run 4s and 5s, so your 8 or 9 is nothing."

it costs money to run as fast as that... you know that. why such a lame quote?

most fwd owners can't afford to run 8s. like you can't afford to run 4s.

geez...

but most fwd drivers (read ricers) around here say shit like they run 8's and 9's, some say they run 6's and 5's. They keep spweing bullshit and then never stage it up.

And the idea is, RWD is made for higher speeds, alot more power. Alot of these FWD cars are made for family cars, not for pure road stomping power.

What im saying is ricers throw bs storys like their civic runs a 10 in the 1/4 mile, when the fastest top fuel fwd car runs 8's.

Now if a domestic were to tell me that their vette runs 8's in the quarter mile and its street legal i would have to say bs as well. But even an 8 in the quarter is still possible by a street legal vette. But their is no way in hell a civic can be street legal and also run 8's.

Are their really street legal tires that can hook up well enough to pull 8s?
