8 injectors on a turbo si???

My friends brother is putting a turbo on his si hatch and is putting 4 more injectors in it. Is this necessary??

Re: 8 injectors on a turbo si???

It is necessary if he chooses that as his fuel managment. IMO, it would be cheaper/easier just to get bigger primary injectors instead of installing secondary injectors, since he will need another method to control them.

I would just upgrade to 4 larger injectors.

Re: 8 injectors on a turbo si???

you guys it is for when turbo comes on. I think 4 is 2 more than what he should go with but what ever. It is actully better to run 2 more injectors because you can control all 6 injectors better (if your useing like e-manage) rather than 4 bigger ones. Cheaper hardly you can pick up injectors used for around 40 bucks a harness to run them around $10. larger injectors around 140-240 each one.

Re: 8 injectors on a turbo si???

you can get a set of 450cc DSM injectors for around $50 shipped. chip your ECU & get a ROM burner for around $100. Now you can directly edit your fuel injector pulsewidths to run the 450cc injectors like stock, instead of using the GReddy E-manage, which is the AFC-hack disguised as a standalone. (yes its true. E-manage is an AFC-like device that deflects timing as you tune fuel)

E-manage = AFC hack

Re: 8 injectors on a turbo si???

you dont know what a e-manage is do you. If you knew what it was you would know it is not stand alone its a piggyback unit. Well I wont get into it I think thats prof+.

Re: 8 injectors on a turbo si???

Cjz89civic, could you elaborate on how the 6 injectors work "better" or "allow better control" than 4 larger ones (say a $50 set of DSM 450CC injectors with a chipped ECU as 91civicDXdude suggested)? How much better can you control injectors then by writing your own fuel maps and burning them to an EPROM chip? You should probly do some reading on homemadeturbo.com and pgmfi.org , but I wont get into that I think its prof+.

Re: 8 injectors on a turbo si???

You can turn the 2 or 4 injectors on or off when ever needed. In the mapping they have seperate fuel maps for the 2-4 injectors. But then again I guess you knew that.

Re: 8 injectors on a turbo si???

the greddy is an AFC. of course i know its a piggyback unit, as in it doesnt take the place of the factory ECU, but it describes itself as a 1-piece-fuel-management-system. It is an AFC. that is all.

get 450cc's and chip your own ECU and have total control over your fuel and timing, not partial controlover your fuel and deflected timing due to the e-manage scalling your map sensor value.

do factory turbo cars use "e-manage"? do they use a piggy back? no, thats right. they use the ECU to control fuel.

Will using additional injectors work? yes. will it enrich fuel for turbo? yes. Is it the most efficient way to go about this problem? no.
